07-09 Silverado/sierra Gauge Lights

hey everyone dont know if i am posting in the right forum. My question is; are the lights on the gauges suppose to stay on when the vehicle is running even when all other dash/door lights are off? Now I do know they will be on if you leave the settings on automatic and of course the lighting outside calls for it to be on, but if its broad daylight out and of course all other dash lights are off are they still suppose to be running? I ask because on my 09 sierra, I notice the Indiglo like color lights are always on when the truck is running, but all other dash lights are off. Just wondering if this is normal or is there something i am not clicking or turning to turn it off.

I think that was a change they made from 07 to 08. When I got my 08 I was thinking my truck was screwed up because they gauges were lit up all the time. I read on some brochure or something that it's a feature to help you see the gauges better. Now if they could change the sensativity of the auto headlights... when it's light out in the morning the headlights are on and the dash is dimmed, makes it near impossible to see.
