No 6.2l For The 2500hd?

Alright so we have the 6.2L avail for the 1500, but why not the 2500!? According to gmc.com the only engine choices for the 2500HD are the 6.0 and the 6.6L Duramax.. What gives?

Maybe because the 6.2 has an aluminum block? :D

I down loaded the 2010 Fleet buyers guide. It looks like the 6.0 is here to stay for 2010 in the 3/4 ton and in the half ton the 6.0 has been discontinued, or should I say replaced by the 6.2 all together for 2010. It indicated that the 2010 1/2 tons with max trailering would now have 6.2 and not the 6.0s.

So maybe there is hope for 2011 3/4 tons to get the 6.2.

I am waiting to see the actual order guids to see what all configs can be put together with the 6.2. If there is a 6.2 avl in a ext. long bed this year, I am ordering one. If it still the old 4 speed and 5.3 for 2010 like it was in 2009. I will keep waiting.

Keep in mind the 6.0 in the 3/4 ton is NOT the same engine as the 6.0 in the 1/2 tons. The L76 1/2 ton 6.0 has an aluminum block and the 6.0 in the 3/4 ton is an iron block.

CC1999 any idea when the ordering guide will come out?

Had high hopes of getting a 2500HD with a 6.2L, maybe even a 1500, but I am not yet sold on Aluminum blocks.

Educate yourself on modern aluminum blocks, then you will be.

The only reason the Aluminum block is in the #1500 is fuel mileage and the #2500 & up are not in the CAFE. Aluminum blocks are as good or better than cast iron.

Help me understand how they are just as good if not better and why we do not have Aluminum Blocks in the Heavy Duties? What advantages, if any do iron blocks have over Aluminum? Would appreciate everyones comments/thoughts/feedback.

less weight.

I think a mildly supercharged 6.2L for the 2500/2500 would be a nice gas alternative to a D-max.

They keep adding more to the list of 2010 order guides all the time. The list has seems to have been growing by a model or two every week for the past 3 weeks. I would say it could be any day now.
