Adjust For Altitude?

Is there anything I can do to adjust my 90 350 for a recent move from Oklahoma City to Denver? I could feel the altitude change in my engine responsiveness as I went higher and higher, not to mention my gas mileage just flat went to hell.

Regular stuff like air and fuel filters of course. Check for vacuum leaks.

 

The MAP sensor would check for barometric pressure and adjust fuel delivery.

 

And the oxygen sensor would check the oxygen levels and adjust rich/lean. (This should be replaced every 60,000 miles anyway.)

 

Then disconnect the negative battery cable before replacing these and reconnect after you are done. This also helps the engine computer to "relearn" its settings.

Even so, higher altitude means less oxygen, less performance, and less gas mileage... but the difference should not be huge if everything else is in order.

Your computer should compensate for any mixture differences. Make sure everything is new or good to go and re-teach that thing how to run. Automotive performance is really less than stellar up here, you just learn to live with it. It does feel great though when you can go for a 10 mile jog at sea level without breaking a sweat...
