You Guys With 09s

When you guys are looking at mods like intakes and exhaust systems are you just going off 07/08 as far as being able to go on your truck or do you only shop for/purchase things that point blank says for the 09? I've been looking at intake and exhaust systems, but 99% of the time the retailer/manufacturer only goes up to 2008. Just curious if theres that much of a difference between the 08s and 09s as far as those things go.

The MAF is now attached to the filter box on the 09s and they put a resonator on the 09s, so the 07-08 full intakes and cat back exhausts won't direct fit.

Ya, GM blew their own foot off in that screw ball move. If you're not worried about the stock airbox, I imagine you could cut the MAF off the airbox and use an aftermarket full intake. The exhaust would have the be custom built, a shop might be able to modify an 07-08 exhaust to work with an 09.

Is there any change to suspension? I ask because Bilstein does not list the 5100 application for '09's, just 08's.

That one I haven't heard anything about, I can't imagine what would have changed on the suspension. Then again I would have thought the same thing 6 months ago with the rest of the 09. Bilstein may just be slow on getting the info up. I know a lot of companies are really slow at getting that stuff up on the web. AEM hasn't posted that there is an intake for my truck (same intake as all the others, the CARB EO paperwork even says so), most places I dealt with for both my 07 and 08 were a little slow on the uptake. Took them a year to get a factory service manual out for both trucks.

I called Bilstein. They have no reason to believe it wouldn't fit but won't post application data unless they have actually done installs on an '09. They suggested confirming with GM that no changes were made for '09. Anyone on this forum used the 5100 series shocks and struts on an '09 yet?

As far as the catbacks I think they are all the same07-09. I think the resonators are only on the 6.0 (maybe 6.2) engines. At any rate the resonator can be elminated. On my 07(6.0) the resonator was at the end and I don t see it on my 09 (5.3)... I ll be checking into this soon for the 09. Anyone here know for sure?

Well I just got off the phone with the guys from streetpros and the sales guy did a three way telephone call with the RnD guy from CGS Exhaust and he confirmed that there IS a difference in the 09s. He said there is a different style header pipe and some sort of ball flange bracket or something, so 07-08 exhaust wont directly bolt on. However CGS makes an exhaust system just for the 2009 crew cabs with the 5.3/6.0. The CGS exhaust part number is 60062 for the 09 CC ONLY.

If you have an 09 and in the market for a kit and it is labeled as fitting 07-09 models I would be warry and call the guys up and ask before you order. The sales guy said not many people knew about the changes in the 09s and just assumed it was all the same.

I also talked to the sales guy about this and he said he hadn't heard anything about a lift kit, but he knows theres a difference with the lowering kit. He told me the only thing interchangeable was the shackles, everything else (shocks, leafs etc.) was different. So I can only guess that the same would be true for a lift kit, but I havent called any lift places to ask yet.

BTW I just ordered the CGS exhaust kit, so when it gets here I'll let everybody know how the install went. Hopefully I'll remember to take pics.
