Helping a friend out. She has a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4.3L. Pulled 2 codes of P1345. One is a pending. Was wondering any known problems. Code Description is Manufacturer control ignition system or misfire.

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric.

My guess is the crankshaft sensor is loose or possibly going bad and needs to be replaced.

I don't know about Chevy, but Cadillac had a bunch of bad sensors in 2000.

well, i finally got to the truck. i did not remove the cranks shaft position sensor b/c i read if i had unplugged it, it will have to be reprogrammed in a certain step. have not checked the cam shaft sensor due to flashlight going dead. i inspected the gear on the distributor. the gears has some wear. does not look too abnormal. but i do not know what is normal wear on these and what is abnormal. if anyone can help, would be very appreciated

also, the light has been on for 4 years and truck has about 250,000 miles.

If you want the proper procedures / instructions for replacing parts like this, I would advise you to get a GM factory service manual set for your year/model vehicle. You can order this from a GM dealer.

This would also give you troubleshooting instructions for each DTC.
