Trans Temp Too Hot?

Hey guys

i tow a 21 foot boat pretty often without any problems. is sits on a tandem trailer and is not too heavy.

Well on my last tow trip, i was running 65 miles an hour with cruise control on and tow haul button on. my trans temp got up to 200 degrees and was still climbing. so then i pulled over for a minute and then finished the drive home in 3rd gear and my temp stayed at 198. i dont remember my transmission temp ever getting this hot in the past. is this abnormally high? i have the 5.3 with tow package and the auxillary tranny cooler.

Please let me know if this is something i need to consult my dealer about.

200 isn't all that bad, especially while towing. I wouldn't want to see it over 210 though.

Others here have reported high transmission temperatures. The main solution: aftermarket trans cooler. It is larger so it provides more surface area for cooling:

You may want to check to see if you have the correct amount of fluid too.
