Oil Pressure Guage Fluttering?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I was looking at a '95 Chevy 1500(Im planning on buying it) and while in park, the needle started to flutter a little bit. Didn't touch the throttle.

Any ideas?

From my expiriences it's not all that uncommon for the oil gauge to flutter a little when the engine is warm (at operating temperature, to the point that the oil pressure will drop slightly at idle), and running at just the right rpm. I may be wrong, but I've had 3 gm's that've done this. So I either have a chronic case of funky oil pressure gauge syndrome, or it's a common occurance, lol.

I guess it an electronic gauge, my truck did this also before it decided to stop working. Now my car has a Mechanical oil gauge and it does that all the time.
