Wester Or Blackbear Tune?

Whichever one you eventually decide on, make sure you do it "live" / in person. They will need to physically connect their computer to your truck to tune the 6-spd transmission in your SD.

Best of luck making a decision! :smoker:

I'm gonna' vote for Black Bear here.

+1 Based on experience with BB. But I have not heard anything negative about Westers either.

Also, +1 on the live tune.

IS Westers still $4-500? that was always a turn off for me since he was 2-3x the cost of most any other tuner.

The price difference was one reason I went with Blackbear, when Justin came into town last year. I've heard good things about Westers. But, I just couldn't see me paying that much more for the tune.. :smoker:

all of those mentioned are reputable...but i went with BLACKBEAR Tune and could not be happier. Very personable and extremely knowledgeable....he takes care of you and wont leave you unhappy. he will tune your ride and wont leave until it is exactly how you want it.

My vote goes to Black Bear. Didn't deal with the others, but chose BB and was very impressed with the results.

Hmm, does it really need to be a live "in person" tune with the 6 speed? I was hoping the BB scan cable tune would suffice since I'm so far away.

Westers may be the better choice then for me since they're only a 300 mile drive away. I just haven't heard as much about them here.

Ask and see. I'm not familiar with how the cable tunes work. :rollin:

When I got mine, I knew a mail-order tune wasn't going to do the trick, because they couldn't reprogram the TCM in the 6-spds without actually connecting to the vehicle. The cable tune may allow them to do that. I didn't explore that option, since Justin was coming to do Live Tunes near where I live.

I see, that makes sense. I'll be sure to ask them if a cable tune is possible with my truck. Just checking out Wester's site and the bill is quite a bit higher for the tune so If I can go the BB way that would be preferred.

I think the scan cable won't tune without the license which Justin has, I could be wrong. The AutoCal that has been talked about here and there is supposed to allow the client to tune.
