20" Tire Options

I have 20" OEM rims that need some new shoes. It seems as though the 275-55-20 are limited when looking for AT or all-season tires. I was looking at the following two tires:

BFG Long Trail & Michelin LTX M/S.

I know that the Michelin's are a very good tire but very expensive as well, has anybody run the Long Trail and do you have any opinions? Pretty much using for on road, trailering light load and sometimes some back roads (somewhat off-road). I understand that I probably shouldn't have the 20's on if I am off road but I needed a truck and the truck I found in my price range had them on.

Any thoughts and opinions will be appreciated. Thanks.

try tire rack (www.tirerack.com) and do a search by tire size..not by your truck...you will find a better selection.

You will also be able to get good review on each set.

Here are a few A/T tires in a 275/55/20:

Toyo Open Country A/T

Cooper Zeon LTZ

Nitto Terra Grappler

Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO

Kumho Road Venture A/T

Hankook Dynapro A/T

I second the suggestion to go online to Tire Rack, as well as Discount Tire, to read reviews on tires. Everybody has their own opinions on these tires. But, you can definitely find a lot of good info on this site for the first three I listed. Good luck with the search.

What kind of price are you seeing on the long trails?

I believe I had long trail on my '98. Didn't care for them all that much. I had 15"wheels, they looked like balloon tires. With a larger wheel and less sidewall they have opportunity to look good. For your description of highway, light off road... they are a good tire. Not rugged at all, but enough to get you by. For winter, they are okay. My current Goodyear Wranglers seem to be better for snow. They work, but make sure to have 4 wheel drive.

You may want to look into the BFG rugged trail also if your looking at the long trail. Put a set on my trailblazer, which never saw the off road other than a path and it still road great. There just a tad more aggressive than the long trails I believe

About $150 a tire.

I've had BFG's on every truck I've ever owned, but I do like the new Zeon's :rollin:

I agree, love the Zeon's, just don't see many reviews or how long they last. Do they even have a warranty?

Didn't see a Rugged Trail in my size.

Thanks for all the replies, wouldn't mind hearing more, especially on the long trail and ZEONS.

There's a lot of good info on here concerning the Cooper Zeon LTZ's. As a general note, most people who have them love them. Quiet on the road, seem to wear well, and they're a good looking tire. Anyways... Here's a link to some reviews at Discount Tire (Note: 275/55/20 - $179/tire):
