New Truck A Couple Questions

Just bought a new 08 GMC 3500 D/A Dually.

1st. Does anybody have the GM hood protector, and if so, what do you think about it, and can you post a picture.

2nd. I have just the single button to access the trip meter and oil life monitor and things. In the Accessory Catolog there is a Driver Information Center that goes in the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The catolog states it will give me more features. Is that true, and is it plug and play or need programed.

I am looking for a bug shield or something like that as well. I have been considering installing some 3M clear bra on the leading edge of the hood and fenders along with the head lights.

AS far as the DIC, from what I have read here and else where, it is a plug and play. The harness should be there. Then all the information can be cycled thru by using the 4 buttons on the DIC.

My truck came from the factory with the DIC and it does come in handy.

The DIC is plug and play. You need the switch and the plastic plate (the wiring harness is already behind the blank plate that you have now).

The DIC is a simple parts switch = parts about $100.00

well worth the effort do not let the dealer tell you they have to install you can do it.

I have the chrome gm bug screen and I love it. You may have to seal the edges of the windshield gasket to the glass, I did otherwise you will get this flapping noise at highway speeds. Sounds like bb's hitting the windshield, now no noise at all.

Me and the wife installed the bug screen in about 45 mins start to finish. It will be easy to do with 2 persons.

Bought both from GM. Got the bug screen on but been gone for a week, so don't have the DIC on yet.

Took my first trip with the camper and the new truck. Wow what a difference. I was never really unhappy with my 00 2500 6.0 gasser, but this new D/A dually beats it in virtually every way.
