Rear Add-a-leaf Or Rear Blocks?

Which would you think is better for lifting the rear about 2 inches? I know taller blocks causes more axle wrap(which isn't gonna be a big problem on a street truck) and add-a-leafs means a slighly stiffer ride. Any opinions or facts would be great.

Block are easier to install

Retain OEM ride characteristics

Result in more axle wrap (regardless if felt, this can wear the springs faster)

Some people don't like the look of taller blocks.

It's give or take.... I've opted for the AAL method in the past over blocks.

 

Oh, and if your springs are already sagging... an AAL is only a temporary fix since they're designed to assist good springs, they'll wear pretty quick if the spring pack is already shot.

My rear springs probably ARE sagging because the guy who owned it before me towed a boat a lot. How can i tell if they are sagging?

Does your rear sit a lot lower than the front (assuming the front hasn't been cranked or had a leveling kit installed)? Also, are they arched at all or do they look flat from end to end?

no...the rear is about 1" higher than the front. And they are still arched

You're probably alright then.

 

One other note- you usually have the option of a 'long' or 'short' AAL, in terms of "length"... from what i remember, the short ones are usually around $30 and the long ones are $60ish... go with the long ones if you can. They'll ride better than the short ones and will last longer if your springs are getting old.

I'd shop around all of the truck accessory sites and find the best price.

 

Only brand i don't recommend is a no-name brand on Ebay.
