780 Miles And 18 Miles Per Gallon

Well we traveled from Pa to South Carolina for a family vacation, and I got 18mpg highway running average speed of 70mph. Not to bad I think for the Vmax. Very pleased, but I think it would have done better with stock tires.

If any ones in the area (Myrtle Beach) and you see a black vmax, it might be me

That truly is amazing for a Vmax with 4.10 gears.... the gears alone I would have expected to kill the mileage.

It makes me really sad knowing my truck won't come even anywhere close to that... I get 14-15 highway, 13-14 city IF I'm lucky. And that's on a 5.3/4-spd with 3.73s.

18 MPG with your AFM turned off? Or did you turn it back on for the trip? Either way it's good mileage.

Why does that surprise you? AFM is worthless!

Stop whining. Everytime you see 15 mpg, just think that there's some teenager out there getting half of that. ...And loving it.

It must be, cause I can't get 18 mpg with AFM and 3.73s. Justin is turning mine off, hopefully next week.

I still have it (AFM) turned off. That was hand calc'd too, not off the DIC. Both were within .3 mpg since it was a nice long trip. It was a pretty accurate measure.

I'm far from whining. Just disappointed, that's all. At least it's better than the 11-12 MPG I got with my previous vehicle... a TBSS.

The other day I drove my AFMless crew cab Z71 4x4 with 3.73 gears and 5.3 V8 about 300 miles and got about 18 MPG cruising at 75 MPH. City driving mileage remains around 15 MPG.

OK, that's it. Tomorrow I'm turning off my AFM in the HP Tuners and see what happens. If my MPGs end up increasing I'm going to kick myself for not trying it sooner.

Well it sure won't go down... I've tested it both ways, and in the 6.0, it makes no difference that I can see. :seeya:

Well I've got my AFM off now, but I also filled the tank with E85 for the first time just for sh!ts and giggles... so we'll see later in the week once I've put a few more miles on it. Driving home (only about 20 miles) I got BETTER mileage than usual with E85 in the tank. That's exactly opposite what I expected.

Is your truck e85 capable? If not, Diablo makes a tuner for E85 that works pretty well from what I've heard.
