Rear Ended... :(

So some of you might have noticed the other post on the suspension page.. Here is what is driving my thoughts. Friday before last I was rear ended in a parking garage by a girl in a Yukon. The bumper is dented and may have to be replaced. I noticed that while in the garage I had a few more inches that I could raise the truck and still "fit". Also, had the truck been lifted a couple more inches and I had the trailer hitch in the truck would not have been damaged at all... Anyone know the replacement cost for a bumper with back up sensors? Can I go with a different bumper and install the sensors in it???

Based on my recent experience, the parts are ~$850 for all 5 pieces of the rear bumper. I was rear ended by a girl in a Mazda 626.... a few dents and scratches on my bumper, an exploded radiator and totaled car for her. It's the two chrome pieces that really cost, at about $250 each, with the black plastic pieces ranging from $110 to $150 each.

Also, from what I remember, there's no price difference between the non-parking sensor versions and the ones with them. The center black plastic piece must be bought with the sensors because the sensors are sort of molded into it, but I believe you could cut holes in the non-versions and stick the sensors in.

Gonna carry it to my Body man today to get an estimate. She still has not responded to her insurance the claim was filed two weeks ago. Basically until she does the repair is going against my insurance...Kinda really pissed about that.

Get your estimate (along with Police Report) and contact her Insurance Company. Hopefully its a local agent in your town. If shes at fault, does have Insurance and along with the Police Report you don't have to wait on her. She might never contact them. I went through the same scenario several years back. They should cut a check to you and the repair shop.

Well that stinks, I was sitting at a light one day, and I felt a jerk, and I thought aw great, but I got out, and it was some older couple, in a tiny low nose car, not sure what brand, luckily I had my hitch in, and it dented their hood, and put a nice scrape down the middle too, but neither or them even got out, so I don't think they even knew what happened

My experience has been that my insurance will pay for the repairs and pursue reimbursement from the other insurance company themselves. You may want to check with your agent about that. As long as you have her insurance company name and policy number, you should not have to pay.
