Rear Diff. Lube

I'm planning on changing the rear diff. lube on my 2000 Silverado, and my 2005 Suburban. Both have 4 wheel drive. According to the owners manual it recommends synthectic 75W-90 oil. I went to a local parts store and they did not have 75W-90. They had 75W-140, and 80W-90. I was told by the owner of the store that the Amsoil 80W-90 will work just fine. Just wanted to get some other opinions. The oil does meet the GM requirements. Thanks.

The Amsoil 80-90 should be more than good enough (and plenty close in viscosity). Their stuff is top notch.

A-M-S-O-I-L!!!!

can't find in store - get off line. it'll be best investment you've done for your truck. and shoot for Amsoil motor oil, i do easy 15 000 miles oil changes on it.

oh, yeah, don't get caught with pants down - oil drained and not being able to pour fresh one in. go to wallymart and get oil pump, it's like 10 bucks or something. maybe you'll get away w-out it on rear diff, but wait till you get front diff and t-case! thank me later.

Buy it from SYNTHETIC ADVANTAGE here! He's a sponsor of the site. Nick is a cool guy. I bought my Amsoil stuff from him.

Thanks. I have no problem finding it. I live in Wisconsin, and Amsoil is located in Superior, WI :)

I even got the "Official" Amsoil pump, so I'm good to go. The Transfer case and front diffs are done, I did them this weekend. Just gonna be a pain getting that fill plug off the 2000. Wisconsin is rough on metal.
