4x4 Indicator Lights Don't Stay On

I'm new to the site and I guess I put my question in the newcomers forum by mistake.

Anyway. We have a 2000 Cadillac Escalade. It engages the four wheel drive but the indicator lights on the push buttons don't stay lit. They flash like they are supposed to but then nothing. The two wheel drive light stays on most of the time, but not always.

 

I'd like some ideas on what it could be before I take it to a shop. I'm hoping it's an easy, and inexpensive fix because we have it for sale and don't want to have to spend a lot of money on it.
