Hi all,

I have a 1995 4.3 in my Blazer that may be coming to the end of its life, it has 250k and the coolent has mixed with the oil because the lower intake gasket has gone. Its been a good engine, it had some problems but overall shes treated us good. I was wondering what y'all think was the best year for the 4.3 engine? 1995? 2002 or newer? I'd be interested in knowing some opinions.

Cheers!

In 05-06 i had an 01 chevy blazer. I sold it with 70k on it. The timing chain was bad (not a big deal on this suv but annoying to hear!) and the tranny dropped 2k after i sold it....Anyways my unfortunate experience is not relevant, Drop a 350 in. i hear you can actually use two of the original engine mounts. :) Also, i would imagine you wouldnt get to shabby of mileage out of it. that 4.3 is basically a 5.7 with 2 cyl chopped off.

Looking back i may have misread your post. Overall I guess i'm not really sure what year i think was best.

I had a 96 s10 that had 180,000 miles on it when i wrecked it, the motor itself never gave me any trouble, hell it never used a drop of oil either. my cousin bought it with 12,000 miles on it, then i bought the truck off him with 120,000 miles. it was a damn good little truck for me.

Just to update, it seems that my report of the death of my engine has been greatly exagerated. Got the gasket replaced over the weekend, and checked over the bottom end of the engine and all seems good. Luckly we diagoned the problem quickly, I think that saved the engine. 260k and continuing to climb
