Ready For The Track Again

Got a Zippy tune a while ago since my dyno tune was 100% conservative, and Zippy is a nice fella and tuned me a PCM for free. My previous best was 14.1 @ 100mph on N20 with 2.4 60's, I don't think it was spinning either because launching was LAME. I borrowed a wide band from a buddy who had a previous turbo build and got the bottle filled today. With a 53 N20 jet and 34 fuel jet Air/Fuel averaged 10.5, so I ran a smaller 31 fuel jet. A/F averaged 11:1. I'm sticking with that for now since bottle pressure was stuck @ 900psi (I need to adjust the bottle heater, it turns off automatically @ 900~). Once I raise that and bottle pressure reaches 950-1000 PSI it will lean out, ideal A/F for this is around 11.7:1. I believe 13's are around the corner easily, it really runs like a raped ape now. From the way it feels I don't doubt 14.5's on motor. Shifts around 6200, I'm going to be spraying thru the shifts too, and I'm thinking about spraying from 2700 rpm or so, that should bring my 60's down. I'd like to run tomorrow, but Jim Gaffigan has a show I'm going to that night, so it's up in the air. If I don't run I'm running next Thursday definitely if the weather is good. It's getting cold at night too so it's time to get some new best ET's.

I think I'm going to the track on Friday...See if I can't embarass myself completely.

I'm going to be mad if I can't beat my best time in the SS....Don't know though...I've not even TRIED to launch this car hard yet.

lol better practice on the way there. You should probably get some type of drag radial for the track. Actually I went to the cruise in last night and saw a few GTO's, I wanted to talk to the driver of one, it was a yellow 5.7 (I didn't see any 6.0 badges) with Long tubes, sounded like 1 chamber Flowmasters, and a donkey cam. He had a laptop so I didn't bother him.

Give 'em hell guy's.

I just hope the truck makes it home in 1 piece. :D

When do you start spraying?

I'm going to spray from 2700rpm-6000rpm

Rock out Sam!

I'm waiting for the new results.

I wish I could get them sooner than this coming Thursday

Yeah, this has got to be good.. I predict 13.7

I'm predicting around the same too. Really hoping for 13.5's though with this cooler weather, and I know a better 60' will be had which makes big differences.

Well if you run a 13.7, you'll beat me. Not by much...But you'll beat me.

My first ever hard launch in the Goat was at the track, and it suffers from wheel hop LIKE A MOFO. Hopped all the way through first and spun too much in second. I definitely need the driver mod. The SS was pretty much point-n-shoot, the Goat? Not so much. I've got a lot of learning to do.

But just to be on the safe side...I've got the first go-fast parts on the way.

lol I'll have some go fast parts on the way too this winter

Sounds like you need some drag radials and traction bars. If you want to hook-n-book, get some Mickey Thompson ET streets.

Weather forecast for Thursday is scattered morning showers and partly cloudy for the rest of the day, low 70's during the day, I think 50's at night. It's only Sunday so hopefully it changes and rain isn't included.

I'd be a lot better if I just bothered to practice launching for a few minutes.

Headers are F***ING expensive for this car.

I believe it. I looked around at GTO stuff when I was trying to trade the truck in, seemed everything was over a grand if your not a Pacesetter fan.

Pacesetters are fine...If you don't plan on keeping the car.

I ordered 2000 degree coated and cermasealed Kooks with some high flow catted midpipes.
