I am looking to install a cat back exhaust system on my 2008 GMC Sierra SLT Crewcab. I want a split dual Exhaust system and would prefer the S/S tips which exit one on each side at an angle towards the corners of the bumber. I have been doing some research online and have found a Magnaflow system, a Gibson system and a Flowmaster system. My question is which one is going to be the loudest, I am going for looks and a deep throaty sound. I hate to spend the money on an exhaust that is just going to be a tiny bit louder than stock. what are your opinions on these three systems or if you know of another system let me know what it is.

why not have your local speed shop or exhaust shop custom make you an exhaust system. that way, you can choose exactly what you want sound and volume wise

I have a neighbor with an 2007 New Body and he had the local shop do a 2 1/2" dual system for him with a magnaflow muffler and in my opinion I thought it wasn't much louder than stock. For the price the local shops want for a dual setup I can buy a dual system online from Gibson, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Borla etc for a few bucks more and it would be a straight bolt up that I can do in my garage. Most local shops use clamps and goober welds that rust out and look like complete crap. I went that way on my 1994 Silverado with a Dual outlet FlowPro muffler and angled duals and it looked good until you crawled underneath and seen the goober welds with pinholes and clamps etc. I want it to last forever and look/sound good!!!

Obviously, straight's would be the loudest, but of those 3, Flowmaster would be the loudest. I have a si/do flowmaster original 40 on my 4.8L. Click on the link to my youtube in my sig for some exhaust clips. If you want a little louder than that, there is also the Super 44.

sounds like you need to find a better exhaust shop. at the speed shop i use to work at, custom single exhaust systems would run around $400. they turned out much better than say your average flowmaster kit, which usually doesnt fit all that well without modification!!!! heck, even my corsa exhaust required a bit of modification to fit the way i wanted it to. nothing against the exhaust companies, im actually pretty close with some of the flowmaster engineers here in northern cali, but every truck is different and sometimes things just dont fit the same

+1 Get a Dynomax Bullet, I got mine installed locally. It's deep and throaty sounding and will be louder than all of those systems you've mentioned. The only thing louder would be straight pipes, but that won't sound near as good.

Im running Magnaflows smallest 2.5" universal muffler. Magnaflow Muffler Its like a bullet style muffler

Its much louder and throatier than the Flowmaster 40 series that i was running.

Both were 2.5" True Dual systems with an H-pipe.

I had true dualed Flowmaster Super 44s with Magnaflow Hi-Flow cats on my ole 2500HD. It sounded amazing & was loud enough to get me two exhaust warnings from cops  Wasn't obnoxious/poppy/crackle loud either, it was that sweet Flowmaster tone, volumed perfectly.

Listen to the beauty.

If you want something loud, then get a Gibson. I have a nbs 08 Sierra Ext cab 6.5 bed All Terrain and I bought one. I'm going to be taking it off though. Unlike you, I just wanted a subtle increase in sound. It does have a good rumble to it. Oh, its Gibson's part # 65626. It exits dual behind the rear passenger, not like you want.

I dislike the way gibson sounds on v8's. To me its like an exhaust leak. As far as this poll...piping will effect the sound as will bends. There are a lot of variables here. You can buy a flowmaster super 44 or a single chamber which is loud and put it on something with cats and resignators and not as loud.

 two thums up on the bullet, very nice loud system, i got the dynomax ultra-flow welded race muffler (which i`ve been told is almost the same, although mine is 4"ID!!!) slight rap under hard accel, but totally a muscle car sound, turn heads!!! :(

This poll is all wrong. If most of you think Flowmasters (excluding the 10 series) are loud, you guys are really missing out.

I have a y-pipe system. 3" straight pipes with 3.5" tips. Pipes are straight out the back but could be angled. I have used this exact system on my previous silverado with the 5.3 and in my 1994 with 5.7 and I have it on my current 1500. Obviously this isnt one of the systems you were asking about but this type of setup will talk to ya. If you want really loud exhaust that has a great sound you need to go to a quality place and have them build you a straight pipe system. I have been using the same muffler man for years, this guy used to build 6" systems for Vettes and really knows his stuff. Get it done right the first time.
