How-To: Adding Steering Wheel Controls and DIC.

Hey everybody, I completed the steering wheel swap on my truck and figured that I would post up the results. As of this post, I have not done the SIR Coil install but once I do, I will get it documented and posted up here. Since I took a number of pictures, I decided to post the writeup on my website where it could be seen by practically everybody. A word of caution to those on dialup/slow connections: my writeup does have lots of pictures and it will take you several moments to load em all. To everybody, these pictures were formatted primarily in JPEG @ a resolution of 1280 pixels by 960 pixels. Either you will have to adjust your monitor to a higher resolution to see them or you will have to stick with the side to side scrolling. Once again, I have not done the SIR Coil install but will get it up there as soon as its done. Feel free to post corrections on this thread so that I may correct and update the information. Thanks!!!

Not a problem. I plan to tear apart the dash again and take better pictures as well as do other stuff so the writeup will contain better pictures...no ETA yet on when I will do this.

Ok, guys. Got the truck back from the dealership and they ran into several issues. I was told by the tech that did the actual programming attempt that my IPC was busted and would not take the programming for the DIC. He did get the Radio Redundant Controls to work properly so the top half of my steering wheel controls (Radio control buttons) work just fine but my "Trip" and "Personlization/Customization" buttons do not work. They recommended that I get the IPC replaced with one that came from the factory with all of the DIC programming already and it should be plug and play. Thoughts on how I should go about this so or should I toss in the towel?

Mike,

Thanks for your writeups. I installed everything on the weekend and got it programmed today, piece of cake!! I gave your instructions to the tech to use as background info and fortunately he was very willing to give it a try as he'd never done this before. Got both the DIC and radio controls working.
