Official Custom Tune Thread!

Just figured I'd start an "Official" Custom Tune thread with the most common truck tunes listed. Obviously these type of polls are very unscientific and don't necessarily indicate which particular custom tune is better or worse. As with any poll, it's just something for "informational" purposes.

 

Here is a list of the most common tuners, including 2 custom tune apps that most of the tuners actually use themselves. But I added them since there are lots of individuals who use them as well to create their own custom tune. If you have any questions regarding a specific tune, price, or any other questions, I'd suggest visiting their website first. Most also find it best to give them a call directly for a faster response, rather than e-mail.

HP Tuners, Tuned it myself.. I did have a Nelson tune about 3 years ago and i was VERY happy with it..

Westers. Got it through a group buy on DenaliTrucks.com back in 2003. Love it. Pay for the tune once and get free upgrades/changes, even for new vehicles. I'm on my second truck with a Westers and I only paid for the shipping to get this one tuned.

I'll vote when the nitrous kit is on and I hit the dyno

 

Obviously getting dyno tuned or getting an in person EFI Live/HP tuners tune is going to be THE most beneficial, powerful and most accurate, but for those who don't have those options and/or would rather mail order tune it's hard to say no to Nelson, Wheatly, or Blackbear. They are excellent tuners with unbeatable reputations.

The preference on tuners seems to follow sites. Denali Trucks prefers Westers. SilveradoSS is a mixture, and this site like Nelson. Nelson has a back order for cores and a wait list now, and they said that you can't keep the cores because of the demand on them. I don't like their customer service, so I am going with Butch at Westers.

Well, this site hasn't quite gone all Nelson yet like some forums. There's just a user or 2 who are WAY happier with their particular tune than your average user is willing to admit. Bet you can't figure out who they are! In fact, they're almost... too happy...

 

Basically, everybody's tune is better than everybody elses.

I am in the market for a tune. Sent Blackbear a long email with some questions last week. Never heard back from them. I thought, from what I have read, that they are supposed to have good customer service.
