  1. I installed a 2nd battery today. I used a solenoid to isolate the 2 batteries. I installed a small 3 position switch to control the solenoid. It has 3 modes. Mode 0 the batteries are isolated no matter what position the key is in. Mode 1 the batteries are isolated when the key is off. When the key is in the run position the batteries are tied together letting the 2nd battery charge. Mode 2 the batteries are tied together no matter what position the key is in. Mode 0 is for should there be a problem with the 2nd battery or anything on that system it can be isolated from the factory electical system. Mode 1 is how the system is run normally. All my added lights and accessories are on the 2nd battery. So if I am at camp and run this battery down I can still start the truck. The battery will recharge as I drive. Mode 2 is for when the factory battery is dead for some reason and I need to boost myself. So I can boost the truck without getting out of the cab. You don't want to leave the switch set to mode 2 because the solenoid would run the 2nd battery down over an extended period of time. I will make a thread with a better discription, pictures and a drawing if it will be of any use to someone. I ran this setup on my 2001 Z71 for a few years and it worked well. There I used it to run a 3000-watt inverter. Soon I will be reinstalling that in my 2017.

  3. I have a shell on my truck so I find that bumper step worthless except for putting in a light on an angle and I cannot believe how bright the rear cornering light is when I'm plowing. Little things that make a huge difference. You can find a much cheaper LED spot or flood light on Amazon. About $20 a piece instead of the 120 for a set of those other ones you posted Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

  4. Hello all! Glad I found a place with some knowledgeable folks so I can ask my modification questions. As of a few days ago I am a proud owner of a 2018 Z71 All Star Edition Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. I absolutely love this truck but what truck would be complete without a couple of modifications!? I'm running into a situation that hopefully someone else has run into and solved. I want to add a storage unit under the rear seats; however, I also want to add the 10 inch kicker sub woofer that comes from Chevy to give my stereo a little fuller sound. The only place that 10 inch speaker seems to be able to go is under the passenger side rear seat. I have yet to see an under seat storage unit that is basically only half the size so the speaker can fit too, Has anyone done this and if so what storage unit did you get that allowed for both the speaker being mounted and storage bin placement? I do the apartment thing so I don't have the resources or space to fabricate my own as I have seen some on youtube do. Any guidance would be great! Thanks,

  6. Did you cut out any of the floor liner? I had to cut out around the sub the seat wouldn’t sit flat unless I cut it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I have the 2015 and have had exactly one repair in 55,000 miles. A pinion seal. Mine is not just nearly flawless, it has been exceptionally reliable. Love it to death. Even the wiper blades are OEM and mint.

  9. Problems with reading through forums is usually the problems get brought up more than the positives. Dont always trust what you see because not everyone says they have a good experience.

  10. Yea it will shift for you just like always, the only difference is it will constantly be in v8. no hunting for gears while deciding to switch between v4/v8. It will start to rev and you’ll know when your maxing 5th gear. I drove like that in town or on back country roads, anywhere the speed was like 45 or less. shift it up to 6th if your hitting a highway or interstate, this will also activate the afm again, anytime you go back to 5th or lower and it’ll be off. 12. This is what I have, I went with it bc I went up a size in tires and wanted to reprogram the speedometer for that, witch it also will do. There’s some modules out there made to specifically turn AFM off and that’s it, there’s plenty of better tuners out there too. This one fit my needs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. I’m getting .1 better after I turned it off lol. I reset one of the tripometers when I did it to track the difference. Obviously it’s not real scientific, but hey it’s not several mpg worse either. I haven’t had any issues with warranty, but I’ve also only ever made one claim; and that was bc the haptic motor on the left side of the driver seat went out. I turned it back to stock prior to taking it in for that, I have left it tuned for all my oil changes there though, I get them done at the dealer I bought it from. Diablo claims the gm techs can’t see that you’ve used their product once you return it to stock, There’s plenty of debate over that. I was closing in on driving beyond any mileage the standard warranties would cover for any power train related stuff, so I went ahead and did it. I’ve since messed with the firmness of the shifts and some little things like that, but it’s all still the “canned tunes” options that come with it, I haven’t had a true tune. To me, It’s one of the best investments/mods I’ve made/done. If anything, just for the peace of mind of knowing I don’t need to concentrate on how I use the gas pedal in certain scenarios, I can just drive and enjoy the truck. 16. Thanks for your prompt reply. I am very much interested in purchasing your harness. If so, how much and how would i be able to buy it? Based on your original post. It looks like I'll be needing a DL8 tow mirror? Power folding I can live without. I would like to have the turn signals, front reflectors, and reverse lights option. Where's would be the best place to purchase mirrors without spending $1200 that the dealer has to offer?

  17. I had exact same issues bud, 2015 Sierra. I turned the afm off and that’s all gone, I swear to you. Drives like a whole new truck. I bought an intune, but didn’t really do any other mods beyond adjust my speedo for larger tires. It’s been well over a year and I haven’t noticed any problems in the areas I would always have them, like certain hills that it wouldn’t make up its mind what gear to go in, I just go up smoothly now. Can let off and coast a bit and get back on it without a crazy clunk and hard shift too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. One option would be to get the speaker and underseat storage box, then cut off half of the storage box.

  22. Try driving with Grade Brake Off see if you notice a difference. Hold the tow button for 5 seconds to turn it off.

  23. I drove my old 95 1500 for the last few months and just getting back into my 2014 with a 6 speed and CAI/cat back. It still shifts like it has no idea what it's doing. For what it's worth it was the exact same without the CAI

  28. I'm so annoyed by noises in my truck, my wife always refuses to answer me when I mute the radio and ask her "do you hear that?" . I'm really glad GM got rid of the doors that went all the way to the roof line. I don't know how many times I greased the weather stripping on that 08 Sierra to make the squeaks and rattles stop!

  29. You were thinking of: In 1964, "Red Asphalt" In 1978, "Red Asphalt II" In 1989, "Red Asphalt III" In 1998, "Red Asphalt IV" In 2006, "Red Asphalt V" BTW, they are all on YouTube. There were several other films out there, like "Blood on the Windshield," "Death on the Highway," and "Highways of Agony."

  36. I’ve fought that battle of seeing at night enough, kept it legal this go around and just had the back tinted a bit darker to give the effect that the fronts are darker. OP, you could look into the pods that mount on your hood right below the window as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  37. If your planning on using these more often than not I would suggest you get DOT rated lights especially if you have them come on with the turn signals cause at some point I’d bet you’ll have a run in with Johnny Law. Instead of hacking up the bumper I’d look into installing lights in the air dam with a custom bracket as it will be a lot cheaper to replace if you want to go back to stock and it keeps the light as low as possible so your not inadvertently blinding other drivers like I think might be a real possibility if you go with option #2. Might be able to use a smaller surface mount light with out a bracket also. Look and see if you have a metal fabrication shop in your area and go talk to them about brackets and options. There is no way I would pay 500 bucks labor to have no name lights installed, if your paying that much you might as well get something that’s going to last, IMO you get what up pay for with these lights. Look at Rigid Industries I’d recommend a diffused led as opposed to a spot or flood as it spreads the light out better, no need to light up peoples porches. I’m using a single Rigid SR-Q 9045 as a reverse light on my side x side that gets used and abused year round (I plow/hunt/wheel with it). It’s been on there for almost 2 years works perfect, never have had a problem, and still looks new. Rigid also has some nice complete wiring harnesses and switch options if you decide to make this a DIY project.

  38. Well, I'm officially an idiot. So after buying a borescope that connects to my phone via USB and taking all the vents off and searching in the ducts, it turns out there was no coin in any of the them. I had my daughter and wife take turns sitting in the middle seat and listen while I shook the truck side to side. After a few turns listening, their opinion of where the sound was coming from changed to up above. So I decided to take the panel off the top console not expecting to find anything. Instead, I found a loose screw rolling around. I felt like such a fool lol. I could've swore my daughter put a coin in there because at that same time I had stopped her from dropping a candy wrapper down there. Plus, she was playing with some loose change I had in the console. So I owed her a big apology with an ice cream lol. Sorry if I left some of you in suspense for how I got the coin out lol.
