Where did the idea that a motor should be able to run 700 rpm at 80 mph no matter what the load is come from? People wank if an automatic downshifts. They wank if the CVT increases rpm on a hill, into the wind. Same people have no issue pulling down a gear or even two with a manual transmission to pass or climb a 7% grade. Do these people need a diesel electric to get happy. Tell me. What road motor can utilize direct drive? How many can pull a 0.55:1 overdrive cleanly at 60-70 mph? Raven can. It's geared taller than Pepper!! Did we forget what the purpose of an transmission is? 3A92 Mitsubishi motor has the same power of a 1933 Ford 221 CID flathead at about the same piston speed and that motor built America. 33 Ford pickup weight about the same as a Mirage too. Some hate makes no sense even to the senseless.

2024 Mirage G4 ES Fun facts. This motor paired with it's CVT is spinning under 1800 rpm at 55 mph. Doesn't reach 2,000 rpm till about 65 mph. It doesn't strain. It doesn't fuss and passes something most can't. A gas station, several of them. Will reach local Interstate speeds well before the end of an on ramp. Parks anywhere. Quite, comfortable and a joy to drive. Only moderately more affected by truck generated windshear than a Terrain and almost the same power/weight ratio. Great daily driver and day trip vehicle. And yes, not first long haul Interstate bullet choice. So what? An Avalanche/Suburban/Tahoe to run to the post office, grocery or to work 5 miles away is overkill and wasteful. I know people in the Mirage community that routinely drive these 75 to 85 mph all day. Pull trailers with them and at least one does both. In the five door version, use them an campers and ATV's. Service in critical medical delivery putting 300 to 400K trouble free miles over their service lives. I have no issues passing anything I wish to pass and do so safely. How is that possible? I don't make STUPID passes. Besides, It's cute and cheap.

If your going to ask why add to a mid-SAPS oil the answer is TBN. The Euro oil is lower and LSPI friendly. I just make the oil I require.

I did not get an A in parenting. Doing better as a grandparent. By the time I'm a great (soon) maybe I'll know enough to be allowed to hold them. What I know about it today I learned from a Bible after I failed my children, cause what I learned growing up didn't cut the mustard. Not blaming my parents. They couldn't teach what they didn't know. I failed on every front but bringing home the bacon. Everyone ate well. wore nice clothing and got top drawer educations to 12th grade. But parents are more than disciplinarians and bank accounts. We are the safe place. The moral compass. The instructor. The habit makers and the EXAMPLE by which children should be proud to measure success against. It was my failing to NOT take the spiritual lead and my failing to not delegate properly. To not insist on a united front. Not enforce boundaries. We each have a role and every role is important. I thought assuring material things and being the last resort in discipline was enough. It wasn't. It wasn't even close. Money and a hammer can't fill a child's, or a wife's, emotional requirements or spiritual need. I have three ex-wives and six angry distant kid's to prove it. Electricity and water are never a good mix. It isn't hydro-locked. And yea, what Richard said.

It isn't supply and demand. It's grab and greed.

Some things to keep in mind. 1.) And average is just that. When they give you one there are motors below and above that nominal value. 2.) Each motor platform and even state of factory tune can have a large impact on the actual values. Not every power cylinder is laid out the same. Ring choice, bore hardness and material type, etc. This may be good for that motor with that oil. Not alarming. But you MAY be able to improve those results.

Better improvement in last two. I'll stay with the Mobil Euro product for now. Late addition: Not a single plug was oil fouled nor were they fuel fouled. They did have some ash deposits consistent with Full SAPS oil and some ring leakage. None bridged. Ruthenium is a tough plug. Air filter was ready to be changed. Not past its sell date but ready.

Total wear metals come in at 6.9 ppm/K miles. Iron alone is almost 5 ppm/K miles. Base on the Universal Averages 6.4 ppm/K total wear metals and 3.1 ppm/K iron are their benchmarks. What does that indicate to you? Some critical information is missing. TBN and Oxidation and any VOA data so we know what is background and what is wear. Hint: With the recent increases in Blackstone Labs pricing AND lack of critical information AND crackle test for water and flash cups for fuel; you will find @Black02Silverado can set you up with a cheaper and more complete and accurate test. Outside the fact that this motor is running close to Universal Averages doesn't mean meaningful improvement can't be made in wear. Your past warranty, yes? No? If so believe GM. Start using a decent 0W40 or at least a 3.5 minimum HTHS 5W30 (ACEA C3). Will it fall apart if you don't? No. It will just live longer if you do. How long is your choice. And find an oil with some solvency or that little bit of oil consumption will become something other... Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 would be a good fist shot even though it isn't a polar oil. It does it's cleaning by other chemical means and while not 3.5 it is 3.3 HTHS which is a vast improvement over the 2.6 HTHS oil now in it. 4K OCI without TBN seems safe. Now let the rain begin. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Excellent report. TBN topped out. Total wear metals continue to decline. Two more gets me to 30K. I'll decide then on a 5K OCI. Looking at a Microfiber filter. Query in. Waiting on the reply.

Not sub 1 ppm/k miles...yet. Iron, aluminum, total wear metals; all three are following the pattern of HTHS viscosity roll in reducing wear.

Listen carefully to what constitutes 'better oil' in this video. 15 through 20 seconds in. Then the claim is GF7 15% better than GF6. Raven, my Mitsubishi, which has averaged 54 mpg over 22K miles using 5W40 should be propelled to 62 mpg .... No wait that apples and pears. Perhaps closer to 70 mpg once one moves down two SAE oil grades which would net something equally phenomenal. I'm kidding, Seriously, I'm kidding. It's already getting north of 35% better milage than the EPA estimates based on 0W20 using 40 weights. There are questions no one is asking that play a bigger part than trading wear for mpg.

Normalized to ppm/K miles. Apples to apples. Each increase in HTHS produces a lower wear rate. Zero impact on fuel economy. Yes, there's a trick to that. Lubricity. GM blew up the idea that more viscosity would impede the hydraulic functions of their fancy cam/valve manipulation schemes when authorizing the use of 0W40 6.2's.

I found my home to be Model A garage in an ally in the middle of a midwestern winter. The kind that is tipping to one side and holes in it large enough to toss a cat through. I was working. Day work out of a "Man Power" facility earning a few dollars here and there but not enough to hold on to an apartment. A week or two I saved enough for an $8 a week 8 X 10 room on a second floor flop with one communal bathroom. A bed, a small counter top fridge and a hot plate. Bologna on white and Kool-Aid without sugar was breakfast, lunch and dinner. Often skipping breakfast, sometimes the Kool-Aid. About a month I had enough to get a bus ticket and a shared room with another fella and went to work welding, something I have training in, in a sweat shop setting. 14 hours a day for a $1.50 an hour with an hour lunch and two 15 minute unpaid breaks. Lasted about 2 months. Anyway....street living is not always a matter of lazy, I'm not, unmotivated, I was. Mental, jury is out. I bootstrapped out and yes, I could have gone home....that was it's own problem... Sometimes it just is what it is. Some of us swim out of the sewer and some drown in it. A few are held underwater. There is no blanket statement that can be made about living on the street. Some do choose it. It can be a lifestyle, rail tramps and the like but the ones that can't swim out, can't swim out. Circumstances, health, who knows. I don't and will not condemn others living like that without KNOWING for a certainty THAT PERSONS story and circumstance. I won't know those things because I don't spend any time there since I got above water. So just what do judges of people in forums on the sidelines know? Nothin....

It ain't an "either or" thing. Polite and honest can be mutually exclusive. I just haven's master it yet. Perhaps another 70 years or so and I get the hang of it.
