Scratch Remover

The tarp from the Line-x place left some scratches on my hood. I was going to clay, polish, wax this weekend with meguiars (1,2,3 products). What can I use from meguiars to remove those scratches? Would scratch-x be any good? I don't have a porter cable to do the buffing. I only have a cheap buffer to try to buff it out. Any help would be appreciated.

it s hard to say without seeing it but I would start with a light polish (by hand) and see if that does it. If that doesn t work you can try a light compound and then polish. Start with the lighter product first to see if it comes out because you don t want to get too agressive on the paint if you don t need to. A few marks from a tarp should come out. If you can feel the grove with your nail it probably won t come out but may lighten up a little. ScratchX ??? Try a small section if you already have it. I use polishers (buffers) all the time on other cars and trucks and it s easy to do damage if you are not very careful. My own vehicles get done by hand only

Exact same thing happened to my truck when I got my Rhino liner put in. I used Mequiar's scratch X and it got the tarp scratches/scrapes out just fine. And I did it by hand. Some of the scratches took two applications.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try to some of your suggestions to see if it will remove the scratches. I can not feel any groove in the scratches so I don't thing they are very deep. Hopefully, some polish and scratchx will buff them out.
