Replacement Console Key Or Key Blank

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra SLE. I have only one key for the center console. I've been to 3 different key making shops, including a full locksmith, along with contacting the dealer. No one can make me a new key. The locksmiths said the key blank is unique and to call the dealer. The dealer has no replacement part number.

 

I even went so far as to quickly search LMC Trucks at http://www.lmctruck.com but found nothing either.

 

What have you done or where do you suggest I look next? I lock my console quite often so I would like to get a spare or two made.

I'd be interested to know the answer to this one, I have the locking center console but no key. When I bought the truck in 04 the dealer didn't get it with the trade in.

The dealer did refer me to a Locksmith I haven't been to yet. They "think" they can do it. We'll find out.

 

If they can, I will see if I can find the key blank part number. If I get that, a locksmith can cut you a new key for your console.

What's the lock look like? Perhaps a whole new lock is in order?

You take the code off the lock and send a check for the keys with the lock code and they mail you keys back. I will get my manual out if nobody finds it in theirs. I might have wrote the info in my book if its not printed in there.

Good info. I have the manual for my rig and will see if I can find the info in there. Wonder if they are still in business 10 years later.

I found a Lock Smith locally here in Denver that had the key blank in stock. http://www.englewoodlock.com

 

$6 for two new console keys. The keys even say "Console" on them, just like factory.

 

Hopefully this info will help others.
