04 2500hd Dash Lights Dim

I just bought a new old 04 GMC 2500HD 4x4 SLE Loaded. Converted from a Ford f-150

 

Well, so far not so good. I woke up and there was tranny fluid all over the floor, but it was serviced so I will take care of that.

 

The other problem is that half of the speedo is not lighting up, nor is the temp gauge when its dark. My brother in law is a mechanic and said if its LED on the circuit board theres nothing I can do. If its a bulb he said its easy.

 

Does anyone know if this truck has LED allumination or is using bulbs?

Unfortunately, dash boards on gm's can be a weak link,my neighbor has bought a few dash board clusters for his trucks. I don't know if it is a lighted ribbon or bulbs in dash. plowking

There was a thread I read on some site about replacing LEDs. They were soldered on and the thread showed how to do it. Was pretty straight forward.
