Amplified Turn Signal Fun

So, I have been playing for sometime with my 2008 SLE Sierra, and figured I could "add" all the features of the SLT I wanted without having to deal with hot and sticky leather seats. So far, i have added the factory stereo controls and added the factory garage door openers. Luckily I have a parts guy at the local dealership who will get them for me pretty cheep.

So after two years I just figured out I am not happy with the Non Bose Sound system and spent about two weeks adding system components to improve the sound. So far I have changed out the four door speakers and added a 4x75 amp to power them. After trouble shooting the altenator whine and replacing a bad RCA patch cable I can finnaly get the sound where I want it. Next up is the 10" sub for those days when i need some good music to calm my shattered nerves after a 10 hour day at work.

Problem, Now I have door chimes, seat belt warrning, and the dang turn signal in complete stereo. This is not fun....I know i can lowerer it by turning the gain all the way down, but this defeates the purpose of the amp in the first place. Is there going to be anyway to remove/fix this issue without changing out the H/U and adding the OnStar module and seperate speaker under the dash just for the turn signal/chimes? I realy don't want to change out the deck, i just can't stand the way the aftermarket decks look. I have a clean and nice look to the dash now that i don't want to lose. And I don't want to advertise to anyone there is anything worth stealing inside.

Any help out there?

I completely agree about wanting to keep the factory head unit. I added 2 12" sub and 400w amp to my 2005 sliverado ext cab. I put a switch on the remote power wire. I did for several reasons; one my wife doesn't like the bass, two i don't always want the bass early in the morning, three my son will be born in dec and i want to bring him home in style. Hope this helps.

Use only the rear channel for all the speakers by not using the front speaker wire leads from the headunit for front speaker level inputs on the amp. Instead you use the rear speaker wire leads from the head unit and use it for both front and rear speaker level inputs on the amp. (Your amp will only take input from the rear, and play it in front and rear. You will lose the ability to fade the sound front to rear.) Use the front speaker wire leads off the head unit to run a small underdash speaker. This will play unamplified music, onstar, chimes, etc.

This uses no special modules, or anything like that and retains the factory head unit. Only odd or unusual thing is a small unseen and rarley heard speaker. (I got mine for 12$ at autozone.)

According to the manual for my amp, I should only use the speaker level input connection when the power output of the head unit does not exceed 25W. Otherwise, I must use the RCA input connection. Will this be an issue with the factory stereo in a 2009 Silverado (non bose)?

All good points, and i think i will add the small under dash speaker. The only ? i have is will there be any loss of stereo if i only use the rear speakers to push the amp? I know stereo is only right and left so i imagine you wouldn't but....I still want to run the 4 door speakers (6 1/2's) and the one 10" under the rear seat. Will the audio be affected at all if it is all ran from the rear channel only?

And I was told the speaker level power from the non bose amp is somewhere between 4-7 watts.

However i was happy to find even the non bose radio's do have a pin for a remote turn on for the amp, with a little soddering work you can add a pin and pull off of it to power the amp....

Anyone have any more info about this pin on the radio that will supply a remote signal? I'd like to know a little more about it before I go and pull the radio.
