Does This Look Like A Good Deal On A '74

Quite frankly the prices on those trucks are all over the map. A nice one will bring big bucks. Maybe in the $5k range would be a better price.

Being I own a '78 I figured I'd offer my input...I bought mine in good condition for $1,000 which is fairly cheap for it.

A truck that looks like that with those accessories I'd say is worth at most $2,500...I'd feel comfortable buying that car for 2500 but no more then that...but it all depends on location and who youre talking to.

I definitely wouldnt spend $6,000 for it

IMHO I would agree that its not worth $6K

Something up here in Canada in that condition would be in the 4500 area, and you could probably lowball and get it for 3500. So yeah, like Jeff said...2500-3000 US would be a good price. I mean if its a brand new engine, paint and all...sure 6000 is not too much of a stretch, but it depends on the miles on the engine, etc.

Old dinosaur with 400 hp. Will not turn or stop any better.

Just get a stock dinosaur, old trucks are for putting. Keep it simple.

2,500-3,000 max.

People get excited when they book these old trucks with nada because they will actually show 8-10k usually..

however; These same people don't understand thats number matching/all original/paper work etc..

example

I had a 100% original 1976 silverado 454 with power everything and cruise with only 56k miles. Sold on ebay for 4,750.

I'd say spend your money elsewhere.

I have a 74 Cheyenne Step Side and just had it appraised for insurance. My truck I consider to be in great condition as it belonged to my grandfather and it has been garage kept and maintained for the past 35 years. He passed about three months after buying the truck and the truck only has 2700 miles on it. The appraisal for my truck came in at 3100 for replacement and for collecting it was rated excellent on the paperwork. For the collecting price all it list is regional - do not know what that means but I assume it means the price is contingent upon where if I chose to sell it would set its price.

For the record the other information says pricing based on Value Track (dunno exactley what that service is), CCMR value - N/A(don't know what this means either), and Paperwork/Registration -complete. I had to have it appraised as my insurance agent went bonkers when he saw it stored at my garage down at the farm and wanted a price on the liability.

Condition and what has been done to the truck are everything when it comes to a value on older vehicles. 6 grand is fairly steep for that truck but it really depends on what has been done. I've seen a lot of 60s 70s 80s trucks bring an easy 5 grand if nice.
