A.i.r. System Fuse

Does anyone know what the 30amp Air fuse (A.I.R System) is used for? What does it control?

I've been working with my autoshop for the past week having a problem with the Autoride and Autoleveling system. I had all four shocks and compressor replaced and the shop installed the 30amp air fuse at the same time. They said it was missing (air fuse) and that it was needed for the opertaion of the Autoride system to work.

Before any of this work was done, my Autoride system stop working. It was unsure what the actual problem was and I know the compressor was probably bad and the back shocks looked bad because their was signs of them leaking. So I decided to just have all of it replaced. Keep in mind that other then not hearing the compressor kicking in like before, there was no other indication that the system was even malfunctioning. In otherwards the indicator light "Service Ride Control" never did come on.

Now for them to say the fuse was missing I found that very unusual because I did not remove it and the system worked fine up until a few month ago. I also just did a search and found one entry that mentioned the fuse being something in regards to a California Emission Control function. If you didn't live in California then most likely that fuse would not be there. Since that was the only blip for that information I'm not sure just how true that is.

Now that all this work was done to my vehicle, now I'm actually getting the "Service Ride Control" indicator. The shop did hook up their little computer code reader and it came back as having a bad Right Rear Sensor. Unfortuanately, they did a massive search and found that there is no replacement part available in the whole country at this time and that it will take 2 weeks for a replacement to be available. That sucks!!

Now back to the original question. What is the AIR Fuse for and was it needed?

Have a "Service Ride Control" message? Inspect both rear level sensor links first! They are easy to see just forward of the rear wheels. The link was broken on my 2005 Tahoe. Easy to replace.
