Led Off-road Lights

Recommended Posts

So I want to get some bright off-road lights---very low profile---hardly noticeable during daytime---and my first thought was to check out some LED light bars like this:

Does anybody know anything about LED off-road lighting? Or have a suggestion for some low-profile means of lighting? Possible behind the grille? On my old truck, I had a brush guard with 4 6" KC Day-lighters---and they were hella bright, but with the new truck, I want something that doesn't look so gaudy and aftermarket.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any extra lights on my truck... I clicked the link and thought "that looks like something that would go great on my little tractor"... then I scrolled down and saw the price. DAYUM! Nevermind!

you think that's pricey? go look at the 50" haha. it's definitely high dollar...but for me, it'd almost be worth it to have it THAT bright and THAT unnoticeable. They make smaller ones---and off-brand ones---meant for ATV's and tractors...but I want something that's going to be at LEAST equivalent to an extra set of headlights shining. I just stared at my truck for a good ten minutes trying to think where I could hide some. Maybe behind the grille or behind the decorative cut out of the bull bar. I really was just curious as to if anyone had seen or installed any kind of LED lighting like this---and if someone could testify to it's brightness, focus, range, etc. I'd hate to drop a grand on something equivalent to taping flashlights to the front.

Something just occurred to me---

Maybe someone has fooled around with one of these. It doesn't necessarily have to be permanent---I know I've seen this before in magnetic or suction bases. I wouldn't mind running a plug concealed in the bed---and just pull it out of the toolbox when needed. That way I can remote control it around and use it as a reverse/trailering light or forward facing shiner.

BTW---that Magnalight website has some ridiculous set-ups. I could blow a few grand on there easy.

The 22" light bar is only 3" high....I'd see if I could mount it in the bottom section of the grille---as long as the beam isn't blocked by the bull bar. That'd seem to be the most discrete spot for it. I don't have any experience with driving around with an LED light bar. So I don't know how much visibility it gives you. But I have a few flashlights that use clusters of 12 focused LEDs.....and they are really bright. I couldnt imagine a 22" bar full of ultrabrights.

From the auction:...

will give your car a unique glow whenever you use your fog lights.

My guess is that are in no way bright enough to be used as driving lights...just look neat when you run your fogs as driving lights. I know that the LED bulbs I've purchased before have been a joke. Maybe 1/3 the brightness of regular bulbs. And that's being generous

Stumbled across this thread while using that great search engine here while looking for LED interior lighting...Those lights are very expensive, but has anyone seen the super bright LED headlights used on Hummv's overseas? They are bright as hell and I imagine these are no different!

I have tried them and they are junk. They looked like crap and did not light up anything.

That light strip might be cool mounted in the "coin slot" on the front bumper... but they're WAY overpriced as far as I'm concerned.
