Linear Logic / Scan Gauge Ii - Anyone Tried This?

I just got this new gauge to help me learn how to drive my truck better when trying to get the best gas mileage. It gives you instantaneous gas mileage read outs and what your average gas mileage is for the day. This is way the hell more accurate than my GM read out just does the average until you reset it. This way I can monitor my driving habits to determine what works and what doesn't.

Not to mention, it has a bunch of other data you can monitor while driving, which is pretty sweet. I mounted it on top of my steering column...it doesn't really inter-fer with any of my stock gauges. I was playing around with it last night and you can change LCD color up to like 60 some odd color combinations. So I matched the color of my scan gauge to my stock gauge color.

Here is a link for it, just curious if anyone else thinks this thing is cool or has had sucess with it: Scan Gauge II

How is it more accurate than the one on the DIC? You can reset the average MPG on the DIC too. Just trying to figure out how you know that one is more accurate.

The ScanGauge is around $80 bucks US cheaper than an Aeroforce Interceptor. But, what's the pros and/or cons of spending that extra $80 bucks? I know there are a few members on this forum that love their Aeroforce gauge

I guess I don't mean more accurate just more detailed so you can monitor everything more closely. You can watch your average and instantaneous mileage at the same time side by side, plus look at other data. Seems pretty cool thus far. The one in our DIC is cool, but nothing like this. You would have to reset it every time to get instantaneous, but you couldn't monitor your average at the same time side by side, etc. Plus this thing allows you to monitor up to four different trips and the mileage on each trip, etc. It will also break out a bunch of other data...I'm just starting to mess around with it more.

I have 2 of the ScanGauge II.

Love it.

I monitor:

MPG

RPM

Trans temp

Water temp

I installed this weekend also, curious what code you entered for the trans temp. I entered the one listed under GM VPW w/o alison, but did not pick it up.

Thanks

Steve

I've been running a ScangaugeII for about 2 years. I have a second cable for it so I can check/clear codes if any of my other or family's vehicles get a MIL.

The Aeroforce Interceptor is an actual 2 1/16" round guage, unlike the Scangauge which is rectangular, that can be fitted into a gauge pod and have a cleaner installed look.

I checked out that Aeroforce, which looked pretty cool too. However, I haven't found any gauge pods that would hold it properly. Have you seen any?

the Aeroforce is a standard 2 1/16" gauge. I've seen steering column pods, A-pillar pods, dash pods, under dash pods, etc that it will fit.

Remind me later.

I hear you, but have you seen any pods that fit the NNBS? Thx

The Aeroforce is far better, in just the huge amount of options you can pick four at a time for the gauge to read. Yes they make pillar pods for these. I actually used a late model mustang pod with a little modification to go on over the factory pillar. I have two of Aeroforce gauges, as said before, there are a variety of different pods available, research/search engine.

why do you have 2 if 1 does so much.... ?

both Aeroforce and Scangauge do the same thing, both have dozens of gauges that can be viewed and both can show up to 4 at a time. I went with the Scangauge because I didn't plan on permenantly mounting it into a pod because I use it in my other vehicles for diagnostic and code reading. I keep mine mounted on the little ledge on the top of the center console below the 12v power outlets with velcro tape on the bottom. Fits real good and I can hide the cable back behind/under the dash. The $80 cheaper price allowed me to get a ($24) second cable so I can just unplug from the back/side of the gauge and move only the gauge and not have to remove the cable. I thought about putting it on top of the column also, or they also make a mirror mount so it mounts above the rearview mirror.

Basically the bottom line is both are very good and do the same thing, but depending on if your wanting a nicer look permanent mount or a more versatile temp mount.....the Aeroforce looks good mounted for a single vehicle, the Scangauge is more easily moved to multiple vehicles

The stock fuel flow sensor is likely wrong. Mine was in both my 09 Silverado and the Tacoma before that. The ScanGaugeII will allow you to calibrate the flow to the actual fuel used (as measured by the pump). Mine is 103% in the Silverado and was 104% in the Taco. All that means is that the AVG MPG as shown by the DIC is high by 3% in my truck; what the DIC shows as 21.1 MPG is, in fact, only 20.5 MPG. Check your DIC out at the pump next time; it's likely wrong.
