apolloknight Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I'm putting a set of Kaotik 22" with Nitto 305's and I need to retune the computer to be able to give me the correct speed for these on my 01' Silverado SS Clone [LT Package, 22's, CAI, 2" rear drop, SS front bumper for 99-02, as of right now. more on the way]. I also need to retune my 05' Sierra Hybrid for the set of 18's I put on it [Denali rims, forget what goodyear tires it got]. I'd like to do this from my laptop, because going to a shop will cost $125 PER truck to do. And with it being from a laptop, I'd like to be able to tune it myself to get better mpg too, or more hp. I will be installing a car computer too, so eventually i'll be tuning that truck from inside, as well as onboard diagnostics [great for those 5 hour trips I make to miami 3x a week]. So what is the product I'd need? I know i'll need a usb or serial to OBD II, but I don't know what software to use. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
2000DV4.8 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Either EFI Live, or HP Tuners. Neither are cheap.
apolloknight Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 Either EFI Live, or HP Tuners. Neither are cheap. Damn. That kinda throws that out the window. It looks like JET has a demo for free, but it looks like you can't save the tune to the truck. Which...renders it useless. *edit* How about stand alone units, like the ones for performace gains on diesel trucks? I know they make them for gas, but does it allow the speedo to be reprogrammed?

If you are going to spend that kind of money go with a custom tune. It'll be cheaper and you'll get way more out of it than a hand held.
Justind1203 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Where are you from? Try to find someone around you that have EFI Live, we can just add a VIN lisence make the adjustment you need, It will be alot cheaper. If you were around the New England area I could help you out.
