What To Keep In Truck For A Flat Tire

Hi, guys. I have a 2008 standard cab Silverado. V8. 20 inch wheels I want to keep better stuff for fixing a flat than what comes with the truck. I keep a bag of stuff in the truck but am looking to add.

I have fix a flat just in case.

1. 4 way lug or buy a breaker bar. If I understand correctly a breaker bar uses an attachment that fits your individual lug. A 4 way is sort of universal in that one of the 4 will likely fit.

2. PB Blaster

3. Bottle jack or Floor jack. I once had to use the damn scissor jack that came with one of my old cars years ago and it was a PITA.

thanks for any advice.

In my truck, I have in a small toolbox in the pan (the GM one that attaches to the rail) that contains the following for fixing a flat:

- 3 ton bottle jack (can't stand scissor jacks)

- tire repair kit

- small air compressor (those little 12v things.....good enough for putting air in the tires)

- gloves

- pressure gauge

A can of that flat repair is never a bad thing to have either....good enough to get you out of a bind until you can get to a shop for a real repair.

I keep my floor jack in there, a breaker bar and Socket to fit the lugs, a small piece of wood for the jack in case I cant get to solid ground(2 feet long or so), some cardboard...so I don't have to sit/kneel on the rocks, and a fully inflated spare tire...this is key...I have seen so many people have flat spares on the side of the road.

Definitely, and I would only use it in an extreme case, like had two flats, and couldn't get a plug in there.

The other thing too, some of those fix a flat cans you have to hold upside down to get the goo out...if you hold it right side up, you have enough air to inflate a 31" tire to 28-32 psi, and no goo will come out.

Thanks guys.

Went to Harbor Freight and picked up truck box to put some of that stuff in. BTW, truck box was only 89 bucks after 20% off.
