iv got a 2003 1500 LT and i was wondering if i should drop the tranny my self or have the shop do it. im asking this becasue i dont know if they need the truck or not for the computer or whatever reasons...its not going into drive or 3 it just makes a noise, only has reverse, 1, 2. the truck was shifted into drive at a very high rpm.

I'm not a tranny guy, but I would assume that if it's just a mechanical prob. with no issues regarding the Transmission Control Module, you could pull the tranny for repairs and reinstall it without messing with the computer part. Ask the shop you plan to use, they should know and if they don't, find another shop quickly!

Not going there.... it's just too easy. :(:D

I agree though, since it doesn't sound like a computer repair issue (just needs a rebuild to replace what I'm assuming are snapped clutch bands and other internals) I think you'd be fine to drop the trans yourself. :nonod:

I would check what the warranty situation would be with the rebuilder. Some places won't warranty if they don't install it and perform adjustments before driving.
