Seafoam

I have searched this topic to death to no end. I just installed my blackbear tune and discovered that my tb and intake manifold were pretty dirty. Had some issues and jenna from blackbear suggested that I run some seafoam in my truck through the brake booster. Now my question is where the hell is that? And is this the best way? I have read so many people use it different ways. Im just wondering the easiest way that I wont be able to do any damage. My truck didnt come with an owners manual and I dont have any good repair manuals yet to point out parts.

Sometimes theres to much information from using search.

Don't know if this will help or not, but here's a thread I created about Sea Foaming my GTO. On the LS2 I chose NOT to use the brake booster line, but the PCV line that attaches to the throttle body. Not sure if our trucks are like that or not.

There's no PCV on the trucks, at least not the GMT900. There's no vacuum lines on the throttle body.

Personally I don't run the sea foam through my vacuum lines. I picked up an aerosol can of "SeaFoam Deep Creep" which I spray into the intake by manually pushing the throttle blade open, and I also spray down the throttle body and blade. It dissolves any buildup and blasts it out the exhaust.

I've never used the seafoam, I used something that you get at a Mopar dealer but with THAT stuff you were supposed to squirt a little into some line going to the throttle body with the engine running...squirt until it ALMOST stalled then let it come back, then squirt again. I don't think you'd want to "soak" it for fear of hydrolocking it, that's why I think it's supposed to be running.

Seafoam's the best,

Your break boost is right in front of your steering wheel. It's actual a rubber hose that you disconnect while the truck is running and your let it suck up 3/4 of the seafoam can SLOWLY. Too fast and your truck will stall, not a big deal but your neighbor's won't be to happy with all the smoke. I wait for 20-30 minutes. Then under the cover of night smoke the hell out of the neighbohood.

So if i get some deep creep that would be just as good? Is it possible to use to much? Did you just soak it?

Well yeah you could end up flooding it I suppose, but I've found that it doesn't take much. Don't be shocked if the truck hesitates to start at first after you've sprayed it down though. Obviously you'll want to do this without the engine running.

You can also use Power Foam It works great as well and comes in a spray bottle so it makes getting into the engine a little easier than having to pour or letting it get sucked into the vacuum system.

Yeah, because it is so difficult. :)

I use the Deep Creep before every oil change, works great. I just unplug the MAF sensor and spray the whole can through the TB with the engine running.

mopar combustion cleaner is what you can also use. you spray it into the throttle body at idle just enough until the engine starts to stall and back off. repeat ad nauseum. many vids on youtube on how to use this.

Yeah, Sabre, that's the stuff I had used. I also followed another procedure from a message board for the vehicle I used it in that had me squirting it into the spark plug holes and just letting it sit for awhile, or turning the engine over with the starter (no plugs) but I really can't remember. I ended up putting a clear Tygon tube into my Shop Vac and using a few wraps of duct tape around the nozzle and vacuuming out the combustion chambers through the spark plugs holes. I couldn't believe the black chunks that were coming out.

    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
    • Diesel hit $6.00 here today at the truck stop.   Payed $2.79 for E85 today too.
