Darn Auto 4wd

Is awsome

It's snowing like crazy here and I'm looking for excuses to go out and drive. So far I'm down for 2 trips to school - there and back, one trip to the dentist there and back. I have a sign up sheet if anyone else needs a ride...

I haven't used 4-hi yet even in the really deep stuff. So what are the differences using 4-hi vs Auto 4WD?

This might be a good time to read the owners manual. Auto is fine in dry,wet or snow conditions but 4H is not to be used on dry hard surfaces.

4HI locks the front and drives the front all the time. 4Auto locks the front but only applies power to the front when it detects wheelspin. Definitely NOT a good idea to drive around in 4HI on dry pavement.

OK thanks. The owner's manual says the same. There's not much pavement today! But I figure the auto is doing it's job why mess with it.

 I remember a snow storm I was looking for any excuse to get out and play. Beer,... I needed beer.. so out I went to the local 6-pack shop. Had a great time getting there and back.

My wife's from PA. Do you still have "beer distributors" I think they were called? It's been years now but I remember we couldn't buy a 6 pack in the neighborhood it had to be a case.

Not to Jack the thread...but yeah we still have beer distributors in PA. Can only buy 6-packs in bars....at bar prices.
I jacked my own thread - my bad. I knew my memory served me. At least the beer didn't get that (yet)

For the first time in over 20 years or more, I'm looking forward to the first snow. I'm still not looking forward to the drives back and forth to work, even with the truck. If could keep the other thousand dipshits off the road that are going in the same direction, I'd be good.

How many have accidentally driven around in 4wd? I know I have. In a parking lot, you feel the "skip", but on straight driving... 4hi can go unnoticed. I've only done it once, and I could only figure that one of the kids was playing with the selector switch.

Dang commies created that law. Messing with a man's beer is uncalled for.

I've done it on this new 08 on my recent trip (just in the "auto" mode). The friggin 4wd knob is exactly the same size, shape and feel as the headlight knob. Who was the genius that designed and approved that? I'm going to have to put some kind of ring with large points or some such thing on the 4wd knob. I'm always turning it when I intend to turn the headlight knob.

I drove about 15 minutes while pulling a tractor in 4Hi in my dad's 04 duramax... I had To make sure I didn't spin then I forgot to switch it to 2WD........Whoops!!

We usually go out in the level 3 snow emergencies, you know, when only emergency vehicles are supposed to be on the road. Usually not too many dipshits out there except for us...hahaha. Always a good time...till you get caught.

You need some wig-wag lights and a hard hat and a clip board. You can go anywhere with those items

OK, the snow on top of my picnic table is about 14" high and I had to sweep the satellite dish off  We're getting some serious flakeage.
