6" Lift Wheel Fitment

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

I have a 2008 Silverado 4wd.

I'm looking at the Fabtech 6" basic lift but I want a pretty wide wheel with it (22x11 mounted on a 35x12.50R22 tire). These wheels have a 4.27" backspace. I know a 20x9 with 5" BS is recommended but I really like the look of wider wheels.

Will these fit with a slight amount of trimming of the inner fender?

If I need a larger lift, what kinds of problems are associated with a 1-3" body lift?

I'm new to the lifted truck thing. My last car was a Subaru STI. I'll post a pic of my truck when it's no longer in stock form

I personally think you are going to have some rubbing issues. a 22x11 with a 35x12.5 isn't going to look/function good either ( my opinion of course.) At least get a wider tire on there. In the end you are going to have to run wheel spacers, which isn't the greastest thing to do. I guess what I am saying is, I wouldnt recommend that combo. I am running a 18x9 with 5" BS and I get some rubbing. I only get it while off-roading with my sway-bar off though. A body lift may help, but I still see you having some rubbing issues. Let some other guys chime in with what they think though.

No rubbing here... (always some trimming is needed.)

thanks justin, I really like your tire/wheel combo too. really nice stance. Johnson too. What width are your wheels?

I definitely would like to avoid wheel spacers if at all possible. Ya'll might have convinced me not too go soo wide. would definitely save me from potential headaches in the future.

Any guess as to the width of these rockstars? I know the centercaps are off but they look pretty wide

Here's a pic of the truck that gave me the inspiration to want to go 22x11

The guy that owns that truck has recently added a 2" leveling kit on top of his 6" suspension and 3" body lift. So he has a total of 11" of lift to clear those 37's, and IIRC he still had to trim. But back to the topic, I personally wouldn't go any wider than a 10" wheel or you will definately have fitment issues. Really I would keep the wheels around 9" wide with 5 to 5.5" of backspacing. The fender wells on these trucks are really narrow and they just aren't forgiving when it comes to fitting large tire and wheel combos. Good luck with it and get some pics up soon.

I'm running an 8" CST with 20x10 w/4.5" BS on 35 Toyo MT's and an pretty damn close to rubbing so the set up you want will require some major trimming IMO.
