[gmt900] Blacking Out The Area Between The Front And And Rear Doors

Hey folks!. I came up with an idea and wanted to see what others thought of it.

My 09 Silverado Ext Cab is Summit White and my windows are tinted pretty dark. On a lot of cars and trucks the area between the front and back window is usually black. Alot of times this is nothing more than vinyl but people probably think it's painted. This area being blacked out gives the two windows a more connected 1 piece look and what I'm shooting for is to take the emphasis of how small the back window appears in contrast to the front window. I know I know. . Shoulda bought a Crew Cab.

I have contacted a local Vinyl Graphics business and explained what I wanted done and they told me that they do that all the time.

Here's a rough idea of before and after and please Squint when you look at my Photoshop job.

Try to see the potential.. P.S. Not my truck just one I found on the web..

I could go either way. ha ha I can hear the jokes now. I've always thought the vinyl or in some cases matt black pastic on some vehicles looked cheap although I do see what you are trying to do here and I don't think it looks too bad.

Since you are looking at vinyl if you decide you don't like it just peel it off and no one will know

I think it looks pretty good. Do the vinyl or some other removable item in case you decide to go back. Good way of thinking outside the box!

Well thanks guys for the feedback. I apologize for my bad Photoshop skills. LOL!. Its probably better if you don't click on the enlargement and just go with the thumbnails. lol!. Can't see the bad detail.

Anyhow, I appreciate the opinions and whoever mentioned that the material was vinyl and removable. You are absolutely correct!. If in reality it looks better without. It's just a peel away!.

Also, just as an after thought I had, would there be finger prints and such on the vinyl after a while, I know my mom's new honda crv has black between the windows, it is plastic, and it get finger printed all up, and then they don't just wipe off real easy, you have to do a bit of rubbing

Mine already has Black between the front and rear windows,I like it :smash:

You mean like this?

When I bought my first truck used, the previous owner did something like that to it. Not sure what type of material they used but it looked ok. I had a red truck and kind of though it came like that from factory for a while. Idk about doing it to these trucks however. But like others are saying.. do it and if it looks bad remove it. It's your truck.

Exactly!. I have my choice too they told me of going with Matte black or Gloss black. I was leaning towards gloss black to match the same shine/reflection of my tinted glass..
