Rattle @ The O2 Sensor

I have had a ratteling sound ever since I've had the truck. Which is only about 6 months. It seemed to be getting more constaint. It sounded like a rock stuck somewhere. I found it to be a "ring" on one of my O2 sensors. It is on the wire side of the sensor and must be part of the sensor as it will not slide off and up the wires. Has anyone ever had one do this? I'm not sure how to get it to stop vibrating/ratteling and it's driving me nuts.

Mine had done that aswell so i crimped the ring down and it still continued to rattle turned out it was the ceramic inside of the center that measures the temp had broken and was ratting. The hallow tubes of between the cats cause the sound to be amplified. Best bet IMO is to change the rattling one.

4wd, it does it all the ime but at idle is when it is the most annoying.

Brandon, I was thinking of crimping as well but didn't want to hurt the sensor.

Dan, All four huh? That's a bummer. Gotta be realy annoying!

One of mine rattled on my '01. I couldn't stand it, so I replaced it.

If your gonna crimp it watch for where the wire goes into the the sensor cause if you crimp it there you may cut the wire

Does this rattle sound similar to a "jingle" from a little bell? I've noticed that type of rattle in my exhaust. Of course with 3 inch pipes and glasspacks I only hear it at idle.

Same thing on my 2000 2WD Silverado. I only hear it when I accelerated in town - couldn't hear it on the highway I just lived with it until I sold the truck. My 05 hasn't done this yet.

Ya, it does sound like a jingle. Kinda like a rock in top of a skid plate or heat shield.
