2007 Avanlance Keyless Entry Won't Work

The keyless entry on our 2007 Avalanche doesn't work properly. You can lock it with the remote no problem, and then unlock it within 20 seconds. But, if you wait longer than 30 seconds, you cannot unlock the doors. Distance doesn't make a difference either. I haven't tried to see if the remote start works lately, but I'm pretty sure it does. I've seen people talk about the relearn procedure, but nobody has explained it. How do you do that? I thought I read that you hold the lock and unlock button down for 7 seconds, or something. Also, is the "relearn remote key" on the DIC for this as well?

 

There i still about 13,000 miles left on the warranty so if that stuff doesn't work we can always take it to get fixed under warranty.

Probably your unlock relay.

 

you could swap your lock relay with your unlock relay and see if you can now only unlock the doors....but its under warranty man...just bring it in.

Well, it's dad's truck so he'll have to do that. I wanted to know the relearn procedure and try that before he has to mess with taking it in. If it's a simple fix and he doesn't have to take it to the dealer, then that will save him a trip up there.

Have you changed the battery in the key FOB?

I’m reasonably sure they won’t cover the battery, with my luck.

Dollar store battery’s a 3 for 2 bucks. Worth a shot. steve

Yep, he changed the batteries in both of them and tried 2-3 different batteries and it does the same thing.

To do a relearn you do the "relearn remote key" on the DIC...just like you said man
