Shifting Issue?

I found this question on google with nobody answering this guy...but he used better words to describe his problem and it seems identical to mine... I was hoping it was just bad plug wires or something lol...Im gonna put new wires on tomorrow to make sure. Either way, any new ideas in regard to this problem?

when going up a gentle grade at about 50mph, just before the first downshift [i presume this is when the converter unlocks], I feel a shudder that lasts for a couple of seconds. If you give it slightly more throttle it shifts and no more problem. I assume the lockup clutches in the converter could be slipping under load, but have no experience with this.

Yup sounds like the lockup clutches slipping. Could also be the lockup solenoid not reacting quickly enough to disengage before the downshift. Hows the fluid level, color and smell. and when was the last time you changed the fluid and filter? Could all give this problem.
