I Need Your Help

So I bought my 2500 as a run around/work truck. It does have a salvage title from a tree falling on the box. There is no frame damage but my question is. It has the 1/2 ton style front end not the larger hood and grill. The badge on the door only says 2500 no 2500 hd like alot of them.

Did they make a 2500 and then a 2500hd. I'm just wondering if the front metal had been replaced at some point.

They made both a 2500HD and 2500. The hood being the noticable difference. The engine combination and suspension the other differences.

Where can I find out the differences in the two models

One of the biggest differences is going to be the GVWR....The 2500 should be 8,600lbs.,the 2500HD should be 9,200lbs.

The engine will actually be the same...the "LQ4" 6-liter.

I'd have to get out my order guides from that year,but I believe the rear-end is a 9.5" 14-bolt semi-floating axle on the 2500,and a 10.5" 14-bolt full-floating axle on the 2500HD's,someone else may be able to confirm this for me though.

Let me do some "digging" and see what I find out,although it may have to wait until I get back to the dealership tomorrow.

I should add,on the rear axle...the DMAX and 8.1 Big-Block trucks have an 11.5" 14-bolt full-floating axle.

Yes,Fenders are the same,Lotsa' guys around here put the HD hood on there non-HD truck,The HD grille won't work though,Its too tall.
