Looking for some ideas to get the wife for Christmas.

What are you all getting for your better half?  :D

Well, I've got one of the gifts figured out for her.  I'm buying her that "Name a star" thing.  Name a star after her and tell her how it is a gift that lasts forever. ;)  It comes with a few certificates proving the star is named after her with some maps so you can find it in the sky.  Very neat gift IMO.

I'm not sure what else to get her though... ???  Only been dating for a few months, so nothing serious....

Christmas gift for.., Wife or GF

For a second there I thought you were asking if you should get a gift for your wife or girlfriend.  Then I would hope that neither one reads this board.

I'd help you out, but I don't have to worry about these things, just another perk of the single life.  Which reminds me, I should probably go shopping for the family and friends still, dang, there goes another few hundred dollars.

I still have no idea what I'm getting my g/f yet.  I got her the new Toby Kieth CD already, but that's not enough.  I got her ear rings last year, and a promise ring for her Birthday in Oct.

The 2 things I really wanna get her I can't afford right now  - a new computer system (from some spare parts I have laying around - I can't afford the monitor) or a Cel Phone.

I also wanted to get her one of those rear-window murals for her back window (and I found her a GORGEOUS one with horses and muontains), but she's going to be trading her 2wd in for a 4x4 this coming year.

I'm running out of time!!!  Ack!

eBay - here I come :D

NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was doing good until yesterday, I would've had it for 30 bucks then another guy had to stumble upon and jack the price up to 51, now I'm at 52, 2 bucks higher than I wanted to pay, but oh well.

Would it strike you as odd if you had a bid for 30, max at 50 and some other guy bid 51 w/ no higher amount set?  I figured he'd have at least to 60, but when I bid 52, nothing.  Just strange.  Jerks costing me money.  There's another one on there for 30, but the guy didn't list the interior color and it was closing in an hour so I didn't get an email  back in time.

BTW, you guys missed out, I had a flag bowtie on ebay.  I was going to put a link on here, but I wanted to see how much interest it would spark w/o a push from the guys at the forums bidding hundreds of dollars on it.  I'll put some links up for the next one that I do.  But, I'm not sure if I'll have any extras from my next batch.

Z71Guy:  That name a star is really a neat thing - my wife has done that for our daughter and all the nieces and nephews too.

If it's the same, it's "International Star Registry".  Supposedly these names are the official, but I wonder if they are really just aliases.

As for my wife, don't know yet - boy am I treading on thin ice!!

I bought my wife a new van.  If you really love her you'll buy her a new truck or car too...

Actually we bought the van together ( I'm saving face because she is right behind me...  LOL).

That and the new 'puter are our gifts...

Paco I've seen some bling bling vans, heck even saw a bling bling worth metro.

Wouldn't you know it, someone beat me in the auction.  I was expecting that since it ended at 2am and I was asleep then.  Oh well, I'll find another one.

Got my fiancee a gift set from Bath & Body Works.  She loves that junk.  And I got a set of 6 or 8 older computer games, she wanted some games, but couldn't decide on which ones, so when I saw this package deal I got it.  Still gotta get one more thing, was gonna get a nice bathrobe, but I might try that star thingy.  She'd like that.

    • I have a Retrax pro that I first had on my 2020 chevy and transferred it to my current GMC.  It stays in the garage most of the time, so hard for me to judge it's long term weather resistance.  It still works perfectly, been very durable.  It doesn't see oil patch usage, but it's not a mall queen.  It keeps most things mostly dry (small leaks) and the security of it is enough to slow someone down but not keep them out for long.  I would buy one again, it works for me.
    • Thanks to the convenience of Amazon, I was able to get a few things done to the truck today.  I installed Carquest Premium oil and air filters with five quarts of Mobil1 High Mileage 10-30 along with a quart of Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 I already had.  The latch for the flip up center console lid was broken so I replaced it along with the power mirror switch.  I found my push retainer assortment this morning and reattached the plastic under the bumper and it was only held on with a few screws and retainers.  Then I programmed a new remote keyless entry fob so I can lock my dog in the truck when I take her out with me (I've got to keep the air going for her since it's been in the 100s).  Finally, I ordered some LED interior bulbs and replaced the reading lamps.  The front lights are working fine while one of the back lights only works intermittently and the other not at all.   While under the truck, I found the source of at least one of the noises: the sway bar links need replacing.  I ordered a set of Suspension Dudes links with Code Red bushings.  Never heard of them, but they're made in the USA and have decent reviews.  While making yet another Amazon order, I went ahead and added a set of front tow hooks.  I went with red, since that's the color of the sway bar link and bushings and it should look decent enough on a black and chrome truck.  Speaking of which, it doesn't bug me much, but the passenger side mirror has a chrome cap while the driver side doesn't, so eventually I'll make them match one way or another.  Oh, and I ordered a $20 TPMS reset tool.  No idea if it will do anything for my sensors but it was cheap and will work for the Ford Transit Connect as well.     For tradition's sake, I ordered a new oil change wrench.  I kept the Snap-On 9/16"x15mm GM wrench I bought when I was 18 in the 2006 GMC from the time I bought that truck until the truck was lost.  While I was tempted, there's no need to spend $80 for a new SO wrench, or even $50 with shipping for a used one on Ebay.  I just bought a Duratech 15mm extra-long ratcheting wrench to do the job as needed.  It works, and if I like that wrench enough, I'll buy the set.
    • The recall is for exactly this issue - those drain holes combined with the limited environmental capability of the tailgate electronics card inside the tailgate were a problem. The “safety issue” was the potential for the tailgate to spontaneously open, but all kinds of tailgate misbehavior can occur from water contamination of that control card.    There is no real fix yet. The initial recall just disabled the tailgate. Later, when parts became available, they would replace bad parts with new parts of the same bad design. My dealer is going nuts because the few times I let them get their hands on my truck, my tailgate is off due to a slide-in camper installation. They really want to cut my tailgate wires, but I won’t give them the chance. I will let them get their dirty hands on it when a real fix (redesign) is available.  My tailgate, which works just fine with sealant plugging the drain holes, will remain safe in a dry storage crate until then.
    • Yes your absolutely right, I been looking at the 4 inch BDS one and it acutely states you can use the stock 20’s just not the 17’s or 18’s, I also didn’t realize that with my 275/60r20 stock wheels I’m already running 33 inch diameter wheel setup lol so I can just run my stock wheels and tires atleast to start.
    • I would expect that to be lift-kit dependent.  If the kit has interference issues w stock wheels, then the kit/manufacturer should indicate that somewhere.
