hey guy's i am trying this long distance for my nephew in Indiana .he has a 1989 k1500 4x4 just bought it (no history ) rear Axel drives no problem ,front Axel no ! he checked all the fuses ,ok! replaced the actuator on the front Axel because he heard the went bad ,no dice .the 4x4 indicator light work's some time's ,it will shift the thing ok on the floor into all the different ranges of the transfer case . no noises or banging ,just looking for idea's to tell him .thanks for any helphelp.gif

Pretty tough without being hands on... Is the front drive shaft being linked at the transfer case and front wheels not turning or vice versa? I had a 96 blazer that had a vacuum modulator go bad that had the same symptoms, but that was a push button deal. Sorry I'm no help, the floor shift units should be an easier fix....

Question, does this have locking hubs? I had a set on a 79 that wouldnt lock up because the grease got stiff and dirty. I had power to the wheels but they slipped on the hubs.

well he found out there was not enough voltage to the actuator ,here's the answer he gave me .

I found out that the connector to the actuator was only getting 0.04 volts so there seemed like a short somewhere so i just wired it up to a switch and it engages now and works!
