How Many Psi In Your Tires In The Winter?

Recommended Posts

Just curious how many PSI's everyone keeps in their All Terrain tires? I know I've heard some guys changing their tire pressure in the winter, but just curious if anyone here does that.

I'm running 40psi in my Cooper's up here in Thunder Bay...

I dont change for winter/summer, there's no reason to.

You'll want to check your tire pressure since, as a general rule, every 10 degrees Fahrenheit reults in 1 PSI change. So if you set your tire pressures to 35 PSI during the summer when it was 90 degrees out, and now it's 20 degrees in the winter, then your tire pressure will have dropped to about 28 PSI.

Only reason to air down is when offroad.

Yep, mine came with LT C range AT's that say 45psi cold. I run them right around there and they seem to be wearing very well. Hardly look worn with close to 9K miles on them. Firestone Transforce AT's.

You guys should switch over to nitrogen...it doesn't expand or contract with temperature...and in dryer...and blah blah blah..... :fume::lol::sigh:

Sorry couldn't do that with a straight face. What a crock.

I keep 38psi all year round. I check the air every 3-5 days, winter and summer..its a habit I got into because the older alloy wheels used to leak a lot on my old cars.

38 all the way around in the summer, 32-34 in the winter. Not this year though, Wife drives the truck so I added 400lbs of sand to the bed. With hopes of keeping her ass on the road  . With the added weight I left the tires at 38psi.

I need to increase mine. It's usually 35-40 in the summer, but thanks to the cold spell we've been having in the DFW area the past week my TPMS light came on because the rears went below 30.
