I Need Opinions On Nav Head Unit

Recommended Posts

I have been looking and looking and I have no idea what kind to get. I am hoping for some opinions here with this thread. I want a new head unit for my truck. I want blue tooth built in, xm radio ready, remote control, and at least a cd drive. Doesn't need to be a dvd player, if it has it that is just a plus. I was looking on crutchfield if that helps. I would prefer a double din reciever. Again just looking for suggestions and opinions. I dont really want to spend 1500-1800 dollars either.

It really comes down to features that you're looking for... I'm gonna do the Kenwood DNX9140 with JL Audio speakers, JL Audio Stealthbox under the crew seats, JL Audio amp. Also, the modules for the steerning wheel controls, OnStar, XM, backup camera and lastly headrest monitors. My cart at Crutchfield is at $6k. I still have to order the Katzkin leather too. Last thing I want to do to the truck is tint the front windows to match the rears and maybe some new wheels.

Unfortunately that is gonna be the price range for all those features. I would go with an alpine double din unit if you can. They are really nice with touch screen.

The downside with alpine is that they will suck you dry with ever little accessory, but the upside is that their equipment is very expandable and they offer high quality products.

If you don't need DVD or nav look at these...

Pioneer FH-P8000BT

Has DVD No Nav

Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD

Has Nav No DVD

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT

All of these are well under $500. Keep in mind you will need an additional controllers to use Bluetooth and Sat Radio (if it says Bluetooth or Sat Radio Ready) which will add to the cost but that is the same case with many of the $1,000 - $1,500 units.
