GMC Security System/Keyless Entry

I just purchased a 2001 GMC HT, a 2 door, 2WD Stepside. One of the included options is power door locks. I want to install the GMC security system/keyless entry which is available thru dealers. I would like to know the difficulty of installation, whether door panels need to be removed, location of LED, etc. Thanks .

I had that system on my '99 GMC, but I had the dealer install it.  Since it works through the power door lock system I am fairly certain that you won't need to remove the door panels.  I have seen the LED mounted in a couple of different places, mine was on the dash in a blank panel near the radio unit.  Depending on what options you have your dash may be populated differently with switches and/or lights.

I would also guess that this unit is basically a plug-in, since GM sells so many of them these days, but maybe a local dealer can give some info on installation difficulty?
