What Is Good,affordable Obd-11 Scanner?

NEED a OBD-11 scanner for my '96 Vortec-454. Is there a GOOD ONE for around $100 or LESS?

i did a VERY stupid thing[i should have known what i did!].. remember, I posted not being able to stop engine AFTER turning off ignition switch. i tried stopping it by pulling off neg. battery cable. BIG mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to a reference article and saw that when u do that you can KILL your PCM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evidently, that's what happened--- now truck does start[i found cause of continuing running was caused by remote start/alarm].. BUT even though timing is set at 4 degrees BTDC, and truck runs... BUT----when u try to give it more throttle---- NOTHING happens-NO increase in engine speed-and "Check Engine Light" comes on- i multi-meter tested MAF-TPS-IAC,etc---all were ok.

You can get a decent scanner at most auto parts stores for around 70 bucks. It will read and clear codes and show what codes are being close to being thrown. That is all you can do though. Anything that goes more in depth is going to cost quite a bit more.

and if your car won't start or run good enough to get to Autozone or Checker than you're SOL

Truck starts[i had replaced distributor and inj's-fuel filter-plugs-I.A.C.] it BARELY runs!!!!! will NOT increase RPM when flooring acc. pedal.. of course-"Check Engine Light is on. I put timing light on #1 plug--it shows about 1 degree BTDC-????

IS there any kind of 'reset button' on computer[PCM]?

No reset button but you may try unhooking the battery cables for about 30 minutes and that resets the computer but I dought it will work. Worth a try.

A scanner will read and clear engine, ABS,SDM & BCM codes along with reading data like a Tech 2 but a code reader will only read engine codes and clear them.
