So i got a dell xps15 gaming laptop, i payed $2000 for the pos a year and a half ago. I had to re program the bios in this once already so it would smarten up cuase it would always over heat. Within the last week i cant hold a internet connection. It would go offline then back online like every 30 seconds so it makes surfing the net really ignorant. I cant figure it out. the card looks fine and did some tests on it and it passed. the wireless net at home is fine, like all the other laptops work just fine. its this one that its having issues with. anyone got ideas????

If you are certain all of the other wireless computers are not having this problem, Look at the wireless card. I have replaced numerous cards that went bad in Dell Computers. You might try to update the driver by going through the hardware properties or even just disable it and do a complete shutdown cycle (not just restart).

Dont know much about wireless troubleshooting but I do know that since Day 1 when I bought my Dell laptop I had alot of problems with it. Girlfriend has had a Macbook Pro for over 6 years with no problems whatsoever. Next laptop will be a Mac

It's not going to be your bios, probably your drivers, I would try uninstalling them and then have the os auto detect on boot and try to reinstall them. If worse comes to worse, you have to do a full format and clean install from recovery disk....

He should have built in wifi probably 802.11 b/g. So if the built in wife goes out, he can get usb wireless adapter or get a actual wif card, because he should have a slot that has a dummy card in it.

Your "fix-it" sounds the best. I just go into hardware devices and delete the / that item. Shut down, let it see it on reboot and install the drivers again. Usually works.

I uninstalled it and shut down the thing and started it back up let it do its thing, and so far its holding its connection. Thanks

No problem, I used to actually be in IT, I worked for both Dell and Microsoft... Glad it worked and hopefully, you don't any other major problems...

nope i lied. it worked for awhile now its still doing it

lol, you jinxed yourself, seriously you'll probably have to buy usb wireless adapter or wireless PCMCIA card. Try linksys, netgear, belkin etc... you can buy locally or from the net. When I buy from the net, I usually buy from Newegg.com
