4" Readylift Sst

similar to the rough country kit, it comes with some pieces but does nothing as far as the steering angles or lower control arm angles, id spend the extra 800 bucks and buy a bds 4 inch kit so you have quality parts, good warrenty, and everything is where its supposed to be.. id trust the ready lift over the rough country though, but still seems to stretch the limit of everything

That 4" "lift" is a joke and a waste of money... especially for the $1000 price tag.

IMO, spend another $100 and get an actual suspension "lift"... not a glorified spacer kit. The 5" Rough Country is a nice kit for the price! http://www.roughcountry.com/suspension/4wd-chevy/1500_5.html

actaully it drops everything so there's no steep angles, or are you talking about something else

What are the issues with the rough country design, is it more than ball joints?

Posted

The Readylift SST does not drop the LCA, this results in an extreme lower balljoint angle. It also does not drop down any steering components; this results in extreme inner & outer tie rod angles.

All the kit includes is a new UCA to help the upper balljoint, coil body spacers, and a differential drop to help the CV angles, and blocks for the rear.

Or are you talking about a different kit?

No i got ya now, so like you guys said it'll prob be shit like the rough country 3". All I really want is a leveling kit but I guess that messes shit up to so kind of undecided again lol

ha true, I just hate pulling up to other stock trucks and looking so small with my cool rake, and my 09 silverado

I know the feeling!

The 2" leveling kit + 1.5 or 3" body lift seem the be the best way to go with these GMT900 trucks.

I'm personally running the 3" body lift and will probably "level" my truck by lowering the rear with 1.5" lowering shackles. So my truck will be 3" higher in the front and 1.5"higher in the rear than a stock truck. Just throwing that out there as another way to lift & level the truck without putting spacers on the front.

Yea your truck looks sick, I've always liked its stance, but I'm done with body lifts, been there done that lol. If I do get a 2" RC the only thing that really goes wrong is balljoints if I'm not mistaken? So is there any aftermarket control arms I can replace them with so I won't have anymore problems? Thanks for the help btw

So just to confirm, the Readylift 4" kit is bad? It is hard to believe a company putting out a product that will screw up so much.

I'm in Canada and I can get the Readylift locally for $900cdn or $850USD. If want to order the Rough Country 5" I'm looking at $1000 + at least $100 for shipping, and $200 for brokerage/duty etc. so $1300US, is it worth the extra $450 to go with Rough Country?

lets put it this way... if someone gave me that 4" leveling kit for FREE i would throw it out (or sell it to a sucker) and buy a real/quality kit.... its that bad IMO

companies are out there to make money, they dont care about the longevity of your truck and in most cases will blatantly lie to you about the function of their products. dont believe me? just look up any gmt800 leveling kit that is replacement keys and claims 2-3 inches of increased ride height AND retains factory ride quality. then go talk to someone who actually knows how suspension systems work and see what they say.

i dont make any $$$ with my posts. i post in threads like this to help you guys who arent as versed in suspension system design & function. my advice.. stay away from this 4" leveling kit at all costs. what you do with that advice is completely your call and wont phase me.... ill still help out where i can =)

I see what you mean.

So if I'm only looking to get a little lift to run 33's, am I better off just doing the 2" leveling + 3" body? I don't want to do something "half ass" but I see you have the 3" body lift so it can't be that bad

Would I run into issues with the 2" leveling with angles and stuff?

I have a GMT900 as a point of reference.

2" is basically the max recommended height increase via a leveling kit... so you should be relatively safe. my personal opinion is 1.5" max to really play it safe. (with that said, if i was given a 2" kit id probably toss it on... but i also do all my own work and can replace any part & align my truck at will)

theres quite a few guys on this site running a 2" leveling kit and 3" body lift with 33s on their trucks.... and they ALL look great. this is definitely the way to go if thats the height you want but dont want a $1800 suspension lift.
