Recommendations For Exhaust

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I think the first thing I want to do to my truck is a catback dual exhaust. I want one where the tips exit to the side right after the rear wheels with some nice meaty tips.

I don't feel like dropping 500 on an exhaust for this truck, so does anyone have any recommendations? I want a nice aggressive tone, loud but not too loud.

What kind of gains can I expect and are shorty headers worth the money?

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Do a search there a hundreds of treads of exhausts and videos you can listen too. Corsa, Magnaflow, MBRP and Gibson are just a few.

I got a gibson super truck exhaust on my 09 silverado. I paid around $400 for the stainless but u can get it in aluminum for like 340 (make sure u paint the aluminum one to seal or it will rust, had that problem on my old ram). Great sound too.

I also installed Gibson's on '05 Suburban. Louder, but not too loud. I went with Gibson's because theirs was the only website that had a graph showing an actual power gain with their product.

If you have the cash ...Hands down the Corsa exhaust. No drone inside the cab. Awesome sound inside that you get a nice rumble even when towing. And I feel it flows the best. Great clamps extra wide if your not welding it. Stainless...just awesome exhaust! Also, it gets people looking without annoying them. I can't stand my neighbors Flowmaster, it wakes me up every night he comes home from the bar! Well JMO...good luck!!

I went with a Magnaflow single in/dual out setup. I got it installed pretty cheap since they used the stock 3" pipe to go from the cats to the muffler. The reason that I went with Magnaflow instead of Flowmaster is because Magnaflow is a straight through design and they are stainless. My research showed me that Flowmasters don't flow good at all. I like the sound of the Magnaflow since it isn't too bad on the drone inside of the cab yet it still has a deep, loud rumble. Personally, I am a huge fan of true dual straight pipes! This is the first time that I have used a muffler on a truck (thanks to the great state of CA).

i'm cutting out the muffler and putting in a piece of stainless pipe, sounds great here's a youtube clip

resonators, plus cat, and long plumbing is muffler enough

i had a 305 with a mild cam in a 78 monte, 1"5/8 primaries to sidepipes, sounded good. too bad it sounded tougher than the boat anchor it was.
